Where do i go to create new maps?

Use the hand drawn map mode in the dropdown under the preview button.

Or of course you can draw your own custom map. Hedgewars map format is PNG, Inkscape or GIMP can be used.

im playing on the version for mac wich can be downloaded for mac, and i dont know where the preview button is.

Preview button probably means the image (preview) of the map. From list below it select hand-drawn map and click the image to edit.

it doesn't give me that option. Hmmm maybe it means i dont have the update
