whilst playing this game i realised that the comments on top of the screen are cut off. Whilst sometimes you can understand the meaning, most of the time it is difficult. They need to be a bit lower down.

Your screen is probably mispositioned and is slightly off the top of the monitor.
Try reducing the game window size. You can find a list of resolutions your system is reporting on the Config screen of Hedgewars.
Pick a smaller size.
You can also resize the game window while playing. On the TODO list is to allow specifying arbitrary starting window size for Windowed mode.
The only time system size really matters is on some graphics cards when in FullScreen mode.
Oh. Playing fullscreened works too. Press F12 to toggle fullscreen.
