The game seems to run OKAY on the PortableApps.com platform however there are a few glitches and it takes a longer time to load.

Glitches? Do youe mean on the portable version of HW, there are bugs which aren't on other versions?
Please tell us what kind of bugs you mean so we have at least a chance to fix them.
Hi, I am a Hedgewars developer.
I'm kinda puzzled why a "portable apps" platform would be required - hedgewars is portable by default. We allow specifying both --config-dir and --data-dir - the only directories hedgewars needs to load.
so... hedgewars --config-dir=Config --data-dir=Data should run anywhere so long as you keep it all in one nice tidy folder.
