Hi!

As I wrote in the "HillBilly_pl" topic, I started working on a new Polish voice pack.

Here are the results:

Enjoy! Smile

I love it. Although poison sounds aren't robotic.

Yes, they aren't. Neither are the original english sounds, which is why I decided not to prepare separate ones for Robot voice set. Just to be sure, I checked again some of the english voice-packs and I can say that those 2 poison sounds are 'shared'. Or maybe I have some outdated files, but I doubt that.

Nevertheless, I've updated the set, because I didn't like the "Jump3.ogg" and "Oops.ogg". Smile

Thank you very much for the opinion! I believe you have a lot of work with the latest release of the game and really regret that I didn't manage to record those 2 voice-packs before it. Anyway, I'm waiting for other devs' answers.

Best Regards! Wink Smiley

My approach is that if default themes don't do something that doesn't mean I can't do it, since proper functionality exists for a reason. That's why in my themes I included stuff like masked objects or custom rubber and right now only my themes use them (I even added some functionality to the game when I felt it was necessary XD).
Anyways, since you CAN mod poison sounds, you should do it, just to make your voicepack complete. Avoiding something, just because others don't use it, is quite limiting in creative work.

Hello! Again, thanks for your contribution!

What's the license?

Or can we just safely assume that all your voicepacks fall under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2, just like Russian_pl? Smile

Remember we need such permission in order to be able to legally include any work into Hedgewars.

Yep. I read your topic about posting contributions and will remember to add the license information to my posts.

Thanks! Wink Smiley

Thanks!

Also, these sounds are really hilarious to listen to, very well done. Heart

I also confirm that PoisonMoan and PoisonCough can and should be overwritten, especially for unique voices like robotic voices. They are considered part of the hedgehog voice. But IIRC they are optional.

The reason why some voicepacks don't have customized PoisonCough and PoisonMoan is because they haven't been made. For some voices the default poison sounds work just fine, they don't always have to be made. Ultimately, it needs to be decided on a case-to-case basis.

Thanks, Wuzzy!

Do you recommend uploading those voice packs to the extensions' storage site (the one you mentioned in your tips for content creators) or now - when they're already added as DLCs - it won't make sense...?

Another thing is that I find this automatic voice set switch based on game's language a bit disturbing. For now I don't see any possibility of having i.e. one team with Default voices and another with Default_pl. What's more, this may sound strange in the campaigns, where some translated sets are used along with those without translation. I believe they are now partially Polish in PL version of the game, so players may get the impression that something is missing or broken.

First of all, I think it's generally better to have resources available in multiple places, as a failsafe.

We might even rethink how DLC works one day because right now, it's very messy.

But I think it's not that simple in this case.

Some minor practical problems I see are that this site might force you to append a version number, even if it's just a voicepack. It might also force you to delete credits.txt.

Maybe talk to bender about that one. https://hedgewars.org/node/6938

I could always rename the voicepack HWP file on DLC if required.

EDIT:

Yes, this is a known bug which should be fixed.
