GSoC Project: Video Output Tool
Hi all!
Here is another one of my not-so-frequent posts about my GSoC project.
One of originally planned features of my project that is now implemented is YouTube uploader. It allows you to upload any of recorded videos to YouTube in just several clicks. Maybe it is not so important feature, because you always can go to youtube.com and upload it, but still nice to have this uploader in game.
GSoC project: Video Output Tool
Hi all! I haven't written in my blog for a long time, so you maybe forgot that I am responsible for implementing video recording in Hedgewars.
Screen capture software usually skips frames if your computer is not fast enough to record & encode video in real-time. But video recording in Hedgewars is not real-time; instead it first records game demo & camera positions and then starts video encoding in background using as much time as necessary. The result is that you can easily record high-resolution videos.
To record video you just need to press ‘R’ during a game. You will see a red blinking circle in top left of the screen indicating that you are recording video right now. After all interesting events have passed press ‘R’ again and recording will stop. Then actual video encoding will automatically starts in background.
Here is video showing how it all works:
And here is screenshot of the page with list of recorded videos and options for video recording (click to enlarge):
GSoC project: Video Output Tool
Hi everyone!
I am another student selected for working on Hedgewars as part of the Google Summer of Code. My name is Stepan and I am known as Stepan777 at IRC. If you look at the map of Russia you can find city called Bryansk located somewhere near to Ukraine and Belarus, this is where I am from.
I will be working on the project called Video Output Tool and, as you may already know, I will be mentored by Hedgewars author unc0rr. Currently, if you want to record video from Hedgewars you have to use some screen grabbing application. This is not very convenient. For this reason I will implement an easy way to convert game demo (or even save) to video file which then can be easily shared with anyone.
Another planned feature is YouTube uploader which will allow you to upload recorded videos to YouTube directly from game in just several clicks.
Thanks to Hedgewars developers for choosing me. I had a chance to work for another organization during GSoC but I also choose Hedgewars :).
Enjoy Hedgewars and good luck to all other students with their projects!
