GSoC tips, scoring explanation and more
We're receiving a tremendous number of applications, more than we actually expected! We also have had quite a number of bugs fixed thanks to the goodwill of students (submitting patches was not a requirement, but will be certainly taken into account).
So this already something really positive already! I can't wait for when students will merge their work in the codebase
If you are interested in submitting an application, open this page http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/org/google/gsoc2011/hedgewars and hit apply; it won't take more than a few minutes. Remember that only this link is valid, and that applications submitted to our forum are only for information purpose or for discussion.
If you are interested in more than one idea remember to submit multiple applications. Pay particular attention to section 4, it must be duly filled and be prepared to integrate or modify it with our comments.
When you submit applications you will receive a scoring, from 1 to 9. It will take some time before all mentors score your application so have patience. Even if you get a low score, we will always give you advice on how you could improve your application.
Here is a little explanation for the marks:
1 - your application is incomplete or not properly filled 2-4 - the application is average quality but it lacks of important details 5-7 - your application is fine, but could probably be better 8-9 - this is a very good application and will be likely selected
Grades 0 and 10 are special cases, respectively meaning that your application has not yet been reviewed and that your application has been accepted from our team. Please note that after our selection the application still need for a "thumbs-up" from Google and check that there are no duplicates between various organizations.
