Sometimes takes a while to find a decent room to play in: overpowered weaponsets, "private" rooms you get kicked as soon as you set foot in, people only willing to play with someone who speaks their language...

Wouldnt be nice to have a set of automated "rooms", controlled by the server? Those rooms wouldn't behave like normal rooms, where there's only one game per room, but rather act like a link to virtual rooms, which won't be listed on hall.

An example:
-Automated room - default weaponset - random map - english - 3 teams of 4 hedges

When anybody joins that room, a virtual room is created. That way no aditional rooms are shown on hall nor the Automated room is lost or occupied.

As soon as the constrains are satisfied (3 teams in this case, everybody ready), a game is launched.

What do you think?

I think this was discussed. Dunno if it's in 0.9.10 though. When you enter the lobby with the rooms' list, you can see a short information about number of players, weaponset etc. Correct me if I'm wrong. Smile So this automated room won't do. Besides you've said(written Smile) that after the room "detects" that there are enough teams, it'll start automatically. But it happanes very often that someone needs to do something before games start - go to the toilet, take a glass of milk etc. Big Grin So it's better when the host of the game decides when something starts.

But thats what the pause key (P) is for. Pouncing
I quite like the concept with the exception of the autostart.

Not that a countdown before autostart wouldn't be nice, anyway.

We do not need "Automated rooms", because it is hard to programm.
But we need a filter , where you can set settings like "random map" or "Default weapons".

Pause key in the game. Mp3! Plus I thought the light bulb was used to indicate whether you were ready or not. Just use that instead of autostarting. I guess I should have been more clear. Aghh
