Hey, I'm new. I have some crazy ideas but I don't really know where they belong so I'll try here. Sorry if this isn't the right place.

1. Shouldn't have to hold down button to use rope... I know there's been a lot of discussion about this but I can't be bothered reading it

2. Napalm is released miles away from the target

3. Napalm and City theme (because of rain maybe?) bring framerate way down

4. Left and right arrow keys shouldn't toggle airstrike plane direction, pressing left should approach towards left and right should approach towards right

5. Bots could be more interesting, could use more weapons (similar complaint as in worms)

6. I liked the ideas for zooming in and out, a minimap of sorts which shows hedgehog locations as colored dots, and a Drill Strike which I saw on the forum

7. Team flags could be displayed beside player team names

8. Points-for-weapons mode (from WWP; would be optional of course)

9. Taking turns placing hedgehogs before the start of a match, rather than having hedgehogs placed at random

10. Generating a random team should also select a default name, gravestone, fort etc... like the bones gravestone for Pirates

11. All names in a random team should be different, I often have to click on the die just to get unique names

12. Generating a map shouldn't change the theme... if I select Cheese, I want a Cheese-themed map...

13. Right-clicking should cycle backwards through colors (when selecting team colors)

14. Network settings in ini file aren't available in the frontend?

There were other things, they'll come to me. Nothing terribly important though, and probably discussed already.

Btw, I love Hedgewars. It's better than Wormux, or even worms for that matter (imho). And I did play for longer than two minutes.

1. I don't like it either ... maybe there should be an option. Smile
2. There were experiments dropping it using rockets (similar to the worms series) - however I'm not sure what happened to those.
3. If it's too excessive, try "reduced quality" mode. What's your PC's specification? (Especially CPU, Graphics Card, RAM and operating system)
4. Not sure about that right now. Thought it already picks the approaching side/direction?
5. That's because ballistic weapons (bazooka, grenades, ...) or simple pointing (guns) are easy to do. But controlling things like the RC plane, the cake, etc. is a lot harder. If you've got some interesting algorithm, tell us or try to implement it yourself. Smile
6. -
7. Think they'd be obsolete - but country flags would be nice imo. Smile
8. Never played it - spend points (gained by doing damage?) to use weapons? the stronger, the more expensive?
9. Wasn't there something similar in Worms? Don't remember exactly, but think so after reading your lines.
10. Hm ... think so as well.
11. Tere just aren't enough in the lists right now.
12. Generate first, pick theme later? (It won't affect basic shape.) At least I prefer having some way to pick a random theme (okay, could get it's own listbox entry as well).
13. Hm ... yep.
14. Those net settings are ingame - but you'll encounter them only when you need them. E.g. when trying to start your own local server. Only "nick" is available in frontend options right now.

Hey, thanks for the reply... maybe I wasn't too clear on one or two things.

@3: I run it on my netbook... it runs smoothly most of the time though. I could try the reduced quality mode as you suggest, but I'd rather not for the sake of one theme and one weapon. (I'm more inclined to just avoid them.)

@4: Left and right do pick the direction... but regardless of which key you press, the direction switches. I don't think that should happen.

@5: That reminds me of #15 to be added to the list... rewrite the entire engine in C so people can contribute to it. Wink Smiley

@8: Basically each team gets a number of points to spend selecting weapons and such before the match begins. For example, if you have 10 points to spend and Mortar costs 1, Bazooka costs 2, and Parachute costs 5, you could have 3 bazooka and 4 mortars, or 1 parachute and 5 mortars, etc.

@9: Yeah, that's where I got the idea from.

@11: I'm sure there are enough names in the list... at least, if I keep clicking on the die, I _can_ get unique names.

@12: I don't really see the point in having it pick a random theme, especially when there are only a handful to choose from in the first place. But at least a button that does this could be separate from the map generator.

Never used this feature in WWP. If the points are stored along with the weapons that you've spended them on, this will destroy the nature ballance. Big Grin I mean, if you start playing and suddenly realize that you only have a couple of pistol shots + 2-3 granades, and your opponent has all super weapons almost on max, then whut? -.-

The rest, as you said, "I can't be bothered reading it". Big Grin If you've read a thread or two, you'd have noticed that more than 2/3 of the things you're writing about have already been discussed like a soup-opera - loooooooong and detailed. Wink Smiley

HTML = How To Meet the Ladies

Here is my Unofficial Manual for HW. Hope you like it. Wink Smiley Still working on it. Don't worry. Will get it finished...Sometime in the future. Big Grin

Not entirely sure I understand... your opponent can't have all super weapons on max, they only have a fixed number of points to spend, and super weapons will be expensive. If you want to know what I'm meaning, fire up WWP, go to team settings, choose weapons for points-for-weapons mode, then play multiplayer in the aforementioned mode. Big Grin
