So in 0.9.12 we've included an announcer, this feature is pretty much done. The announcer basically displays messages at the top of the screen based on events in the game. Making witty comments when hogs drown, explode, and so on.

Well that's all well and good, but it's a bit.. old fashioned? I was wondering how we could make this feature more interesting and more fun.. and came up with this idea..



Basically, rather than text annoucements at the top of the screen, we have this guy! He floats around near the clouds, being pushed around in the wind, and he makes comments using the speech bubble system on events in the game...

Not only that, but if you really dislike a comment he makes.. well.. you can blow him up :)

The commentator shoud have differents faces depending on the situation.

We still get to kill the balloon right? Just checking as no new announcements have shown up yet.

As an alternative to the balloon, how about a flying spaghetti monster, as in http://www.venganza.org/worship/fsm-game/

2)Bad. The comments are part of the game and they make you laugh. No point in destroying this entartaiment source, because if for example if it fells at the very beginning of the game in the water, you'll have a whole game without cool comments, which are also very useful in order to determine if someone died etc. without the need to look at the "crime" scene. Well, I like this concept exactly because of the "void" it create! I remember, in Super Mario Strkers, you could destroy the cameras, and when you did, ther were no more replays from it's position of the rest of the game.

Also, the people that dislike that announcer feature could easily "disable" it (how sadic I am!).

I like this idea of the announcer! Great Job Tiyuri! I think it would be best if:

---For Island Maps---
*it is on the backgrounglayer and not affected by weapons.
*it displays always speech bubbles.
*boxes drop from the balloon (in order to these don't fall into the water just calculate the needed wind direction + strength for the round when the box falls. or don't allow the balloon the fly far away from the island)
*each theme can have its own balloon-design

---For Cavern Maps--- (don't really know)
*it either just display speech bubbles at the top of the screen
*or make another announcer for caverns maps. e.g. on the very frontlayer a tiny sports commentator box hanging from the top of the screen with an hedgehog in. And don't allow the user to look outside of the gameplay-area.
