Bugs in the new version 0.9.12
1.Vampirism dont work
I played SP i aktivate vampirism after i pick up it.
But every time i aktivate it (red Aura) no one of my weapons give me HP when i shot of a enemy.I tested it with napalm,Ufo,Basoka and shotgun.
2.In MP the faling Stars make a Graphical bug with the blue Background of the text.
but whn i will make a screenshot of it the bug is not showing on the pic .
I have a Ati 3850 and the newest drivers.
3.The sound of the drillheadrocket is the same sound of the jackhammer but that make no sense the rocket drill and not hammering in the ground.
4.Jetpack/UFO
ahm wehn i use it i cant holt the arrow keys to fly i musst klick the keys very fast to go up and for go up and forward i must klick very fast 2 keys and for navigate...... what the heck thats fucking hard why not fly with holding the keys ?
than can we moving better... a lot better.
Vampirism: Can't reproduce that - works fine here.
Falling Stars: Behind/inside the room list? Yep, unfortunately that's a bug in QT (I guess).
Drill Rocket: Blame me for it. I suggested to add it as a placeholder - better than no sound at all imo. It's drilling trough almost everything so let's assume it's a percussion drill. Feel free to submit a better (free/license compatible) sound sample.
Flying Saucer: That's intended behaviour so it's not too easy to control. Feel free to add more comments/critics.
I found 1 minor quibble:
If your resolution is set to 640x480, 800x600, or I think 1024x768, when the match is over & you get the stats screen, you can't see the buttons to continue the game. I had to alt+F4 to exit...

WRT flying saucer, yeah, I already cut thrust in half since folks were saying it was too easy to use.
And I have to agree, even with thrust in half, flying across the entire large map is pretty darn easy once you've built up a little lateral speed.
WRT stars, I haven't seen that bug. Are you on Windows by any chance? I've been wondering if it is due to older Qt libs being included - perhaps you could test with newer ones?
You can always turn the stars off.

I've seen a few glitches with the stars leaving trails in the previous version a couple times but nothing consistent, restarting the program would end it. This seems to be persistent though, refreshing the room list will "wipe" it, but it starts again as soon a star passes by, leaving a 1 pixel thick trail where the cell border is. But it doesn't really bother me though. I'm on Ubuntu 9.04.

Well, it could be more noticeable because the first column isn't expanding to fill all the space and has to be expanded manually.
That little regression will almost certainly be fixed in next release.
Other glitches probably shouldn't require restart.
Resizing window or just waiting a second should be enough.
I'm curious which one required a restart.

how i use this i have no demo directory
Start->Run
%USERPROFILE%/.hedgewars/Demos
This is where all your demos are saved too.
You can also setup hwengine to automatically launch when you click on a .hwd_29 or whatever.

? i havent a demo directory or exe to do this
you can say 2hey there is a directory thats has the name ".hegewars" its in the same dirctory where the other profile directorys of your games are" and in that is a demo directory
and in the demo are many things that not so in my game
1.the saucer in your vid are not falling wenn you join it,my sourcer is faling and at ground its gone

The saucer only starts falling once you press a key. Your attempt to "hold" it caused it to fall down.
Maintaining a height does not take that many presses, even with the reduction in half of upwards thrust.
Just takes a tiny amount of practice, is quite easy.
If you can't manage to press like once or twice a second then you will have problems with many other aspects of the game, such as roping.

with roping i have no probs
i cant believe that the cake no balanced i mean 20 secounds and so many hits wenn 4 teams use it at a middle map 2 teams dies in the first 2 minutes.
Take up discussion of cake w/ unc0rr. I have no problems with it - helps keep end games from dragging out.
Disable it in your weapon set if you don't like it.
g/l w/ saucer - I'm sure you'll figure it out quickly enough.

he was kiked by the server (not me)

i join aaaaand he was kicket after he klick generate a random map......
he says that he must not wrighting password when he joins MP...... but he is registred on the hegewars site......

You're either describing a disconnect, due to a poor network connection on his side, or an explicit kick message, which means some administrator kicked him off.
Anyway, almost certainly not a bug in either case.

(3) and (4) suggest that it *is* a network problem on his end. I would suggest he try pinging the hedgewars server for, say, 1000 pings, to see if he has many slow or dropped packets.

When I zoom out (max) and try to point a UFO on a player, I can't get any lower than the team name no matter what I do. I have to zoom in so I can click on the player.
Was playing Shoppa on Ropes maps (Windows XP - 0.9.12)

That debug log is created when frontend starts (or you pick another generated map to preview). Everything fine there.
can make the difference about his instal and profile partitions installation this disconnect bug by visit servers or make a own ?
Ok we tested it with my pc at his home..... and its works its also no problem of his connection.

in version 0.9.11 he has obly a random bug when anyone change the map very fast with the map generator.

we play insurgency,men of war,civilisations 4,europa universalis 3,Mount and blade warband beta,forgotten hope 2 and wormux together the last years but he has never ever inet problems in one of these games.
That still sounds to me like something is blocking his traffic, probably on a per-application basis.
Since it is his computer, he would be the one best qualified to test that, but if he has no clue, he should disable all firewalls and antivirus programs and retest.

can no one help us before we play the new version we played with 3 other friends its realy funny but now we cant play with Tyon. but he is our friend and its not so funny than before without him........
Its hard to find the real reason for such problems. Especially since it worked with the older version?
Try the following:
- Uninstall the game
- Delete the game's folder in case it's still there (won't delete your teams etc.)
- Remove all hedgewars related entries from your firewall
- Install the game once again
- Allow full network access for both (incoming and outgoing connections), hedgewars.exe as well as hwengine.exe
- Try again
Maybe Tyon is still on 0.9.11?
Ask him what version he's using. If he's using linux, there are 0.9.12 packages he can use.

he made it and he has a "back to desktiop" error at the moment when he go on my server....
without a massage......... i think its not the netcode hmm
I'm new to Hedgewars, so I don't know if this is a new bug or not.
On Mac OS Leopard, after I install 0.9.12 (drag-n-drop from .dmg to Applications folder), game launches and works fine.
Now, I quit the game and its launcher, and try to launch it again. Hedgewars icon appears in dock for a short time and the game doesn't launch.
After re-installing Hedgewars, it launches again the first time and fails after. So it's copy-play-copy-play.
I tried removing config folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Hedgewars/ - doesn't help.
Any ideas?
There's at least one mac related topic around here ... somewhere. If you feel like it, reply there, create your own thread or write a private message to "koda" as this sounds operating system dependant and I'm not sure if he'll look inside this thread.

most likely caused by QT, not by leopard or by hedgewars
can you get on #hedgewars irc channel so we can discuss it further?
you could try to launch it by opening terminal and running
cd /Applications
Hedgewars.app/Contents/MacOS/hedgewars
to see the direct output of the program (to detect segfaults and stuff)
could you also provide some more information on your machine configuration?

she blocks nothing in his whitelist but hegewars is she hating and block it every time he join a server or make a server......... but he says he dont installing comodo for 1 game of 40 he has T_T comodo is a good firewall but your game is not compatible with it when he use a system without comodo he can play install comodo and post hegewars on the whitelist she blocks hegewars nad no other game......

Anyway, not that many windows applications do local TCP/IP connections I think.
Maybe the stupid stupid firewall has problems with that.
Perhaps it is the combination of hedgewars.exe doing both a local connection to hwengine.exe and a remote connection to the game server. Maybe the stupid firewall thinks this is a sign of something evil.

No generic firewall problem. It's probably just not set up like it should be. I'm running that firewall on my notebook and never had such issues.
Just add the following executable files (within your hedgewars\bin folder) to comodo's application list and grant them full access to all networks and protocols/ports:

When I right click in the game to bring up the weapons menu, the game freezes completely. I can not close it. I can not alt+ctrl+delete. I can not alt+ctrl+F1, or F2, or anything on my system Trisquel 3.0 to get where I can log into root and reboot. The entire computer system freezes with Hedewars up and the music playing. I have been resorting to hard booting with the power switch to get the computer back up. When I use the keys to switch weapons, it doesn't freeze. The error is in whatever is generating the weapons menu, not in switching weapons themselves and it is a very critical error. Please respond soon as I love this game. Also, the error is new to 0.9.12. Thank GNU.
f13ticket, does magic sysrq work, and can you ssh in?
Power cycling should be a last resort *AFTER* ctrl-alt-backspace, ctrl-alt-del, magic sysrq and ssh.
I know very very little about Trisquel 3.0.
Are you running the game fullscreened? There isn't that much different in .12 that could cause this. I'm more inclined to blame something that changed in your system config... I have an hwengine w/ NPOTT disabled already built, you could try that if you don't want to try it on your own.
Actually. List of things to try:
* disabling sound/music in prefs in case it *was* caused by something on your local system
* enabling reduce quality
* using windowed if you were on fullscreen before
* running hwengine inside gdb - that'll probably be a bit more complicated, but ideally you'd do it while SSH'd in in case the X session freezes. Something like DISPLAY=:0 gdb local-build/debug/hwengine /path/to/Data /path/to/test.hws

BTW, as a general comment to f13ticket and others. Seriously a thread called bugs where people just throw in any old random problem is a bit chaotic. It'd be more helpful if people created new threads where they clearly stated their problem and full system configuration in the first post.

A quick check seems to indicate Trisquel is basically ubuntu.
It could be the menu thing is just some random-ass coincidence. Please try the package installation from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hedgewars/+bug/454879 and testing the sound disabling thing.
My first bet is pulseaudio fail.

When i play against nemo with shoppa (or any other scheme), i always lose! this has been affecting me since i started playing hedgewars!
