Eh, the probability that you did this yourself is quit good. btw Most of the maps are far from the Worms' art style. I should congratulate (again, if it's not the first time) the art designers of Hedgewars for keeping all the art-thingies intact and whole.

Here is my Unofficial Manual for HW. Hope you like it. Still working on it. Don't worry. Will get it finished...Sometime in the future.
hmmm, i wasnt;)
The maps are far from the worms style cause they are usermaps! And it wasnt as complicated then in hedgewars cause if one had the map the others had it automatic, and didnt had to download it! Thats why i still like worms more then hedgewars

Lies!
How do I get these maps to load onto Hedgewars after rescaling them? They are rescaled to the above dimensions. I made a folder for the map and put it under the MAPS directory in hedgewars. It shows the map on the list (in the game) to pick but when it tries to load the map it instead loads a default map. What am I doing wrong? And how do I make custom maps?
Thank You

It's quite easy and can be done in very few steps:
- Create a new map directory within /share/hedgewars/data/Maps. Its name will be used to identify the map in the game
- Create a text file with 3 lines named "map.cfg". First line has to contain the theme to use (don't ignore casing!). The second line contains the maximum number of hedgehogs and the third line has to be empty. The following is an example to use the Nature theme and allow up to 32 hedgehogs.
- Download the worms map's PNG file in full resolution and save it within your map directory as "map.png". Delete all areas that are full black (RGB: 0, 0, 0) so they're transparent and then ensure the file's color format is 32 bit when saving. The size shouldn't matter as long as it isn't too big (keep it smaller than 2048x1024 pixels). You might have to scale some maps but you should try it first.
- Create a preview image that is 256x128 pixel in size and named "preview.png".
- Your directory should now contain 3 files: "map.cfg", "map.png" and "preview.png"
- Start up the game and give the map a try. If you'd like to play it in multiplayer all participating players will need the exact same files or it won't work.
Ok Smaxx I got everything done the only thing is that I need to save it in 32bit but I don't know how to do this. The program I am using is Gimp 2. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the above instructions Smaxx.

It gave me a error message saying my map failed. The size of the map is the dimensions you gave above. I am using EarthRise as the theme and have 3 lines in the map.cfg file. The last one being blank. I created the preview and that shows up fine. I think the problem is the 32bit color.

Haven't used gimp 1/2 in ages. If the map fails due to 32 bit it should tell you in the message box popping up.
You could as well zip up the whole map dir and upload it somewhere.
Yeah I got the 32bit error. I first error was from not naming the map file to map.png.

Just have to find a way to save it to 32bit.

Okay I got it to save in 32bit using Inkscape. The new problem is that the background is not transparent. I used the fill color white to get rid of all the black. Do I use white as the transparency color? Now there is a border around the whole map. None of the hedges spawn in and it results in a draw.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Fixed: I figured it out. I wasn't doing the transparency method on Gimp 2 and saving it as a RGB Interlaced. I was just filling the background in with white It was a learning process but it works now

BTW, you don't have to rescale to 4096x2048 - sounds like it'd look ugly that way anyway.
You can just play it at the map's existing scale. maps can be any size up to 4096x2048.

Oh, what the heck. 1PLXzL1CBUD1kdEWqMrwNUfGrGiirV1WpH <= tip a hedgewars dev
Yeah they look somewhat distorted at that dimension especially the 8bit sprite maps . So I usually keep them at default (which I believe is 1900 x 600) or scale them to 2048 x 1024.

ikonz101 did you still scale some maps that they look good in hedgewars?
can you upload them please and give me a link?
