Ability to Cancel/Clear Message In Chat

I did a quick search, but couldn't find anything relating to this:
I quite often find that I'm halfway through typing a message when my turn begins, and I'm left with the option of either
a) hitting enter and sending half of it through until after my turn
b) finishing the message, then playing
or
c) madly hitting the backspace key
It'd be great if Ctrl + Backspace could be used to remove whole words, and if the arrow keys could be used to navigate through the current line of text.
Hit Esc.
Yeah, that's a known "problem", but since it doesn't affect gameplay i'm sure nemo would say something like: "that feature hasn't been implemented yet, but feel free to submit a diff to change change that".
So I guess that "adding that feature" is close to the bottom of the priority list.
