Linux Server only

Hiho!
Is it possible to host a linux server without any GUIs?
I mean to host a server with the command-line.
]It would be great, so every one with a root-server can host his own server for friends and all the other hw-gamer =)

The server is indeed a standalone commandline tool.
Running separate servers is... ok I guess. Good for LAN parties and maybe if people have a hard time getting a good connection to the official server.
Means fewer people finding other people to play games with though, so wouldn't be good if everyone did it.
Anyway. Server is Haskell and under gameServer/ subdirectory in sources.
Some linux distros have builds for it already.
