Ubuntu 10.04 game quits unless resolution <= 720x480

I am pretty sure this has to do with the fact that I am using the open source ATI drivers (got the laptop before I learned to love linux >.> ) but after I updated to 10.04 from 9.10, hedgewars no longer will run in any resolution greater then 720x480.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04
ATI Radeon express 200m (really really old)
debug0.txt for a 800x600 game that just quit.
Anyone know why?
Well, presumably that upgrade involved a driver change.
I don't think it is likely we'll be able to figure out what happened.
Try the usual things.
Reduce Quality option, full screen versus non, the fglrx driver if you can, and of course turning off compiz if you have it on.
Apart from that, take it up w/ Ubuntu/ati driver team.

Oh, almost forgot.
What frame rate do you get w/ glxgears and what output from glxinfo?
