Mines???

Ok I've noticed as i play on the server that people seem to use a lot of deployable mines. If you use them, why???? My argument is that grenades are just as powerful, but they are usually unlimited and you can even set a timer. Just wondering... maybe mines should be a bit stronger than grenades or something... or if their power varied that would be cool
Mines are strong, but not in all situations. I'll use it:
-The enemy can not escape somewhere. You can not go to the enemy. I place a Mine. The enemy can not escape and he can not deal damage. You can go to the enemy next round and you can deal damage.
-With Mines you have two more seconds to place your hedgehog compared to grenade. Very useful sometimes .
i understand the extra 2 seconds, but when i see people use it, they don't even need 2 seconds to escape... but your usage makes sense
Additionally, mines are useful in a situation where you know the mine will bounce to the hog eventually (think a drill rocket hole) but you know it won't happen in the 5 second timer of a grenade.
They are also (occasionally) useful to trap a powerful hog in a small space if your hog is weaker. The other hog has to be unable to get past the mine before it goes off due to mine timer settings or terrain.

ok thanks guys... i guess my question wasn't worded right i was referring to when people used mines just to stick it next to a hog and run 2 cm away on the first turn... but the strategy and all makes sense
