Ive downloaded and installed ubuntu on a virtual pc and i would like to know if its possible to play the developement version of hedgewars, the one with the portal guns and piano..?
~Meir
You should be able to do so - its possible under Windows and Mac as well (just might be a little bit more complicated).
Just follow the instructions on the FAQ page.
Important: If you're running VirtualBox you might have to run hedgewars with admin rights to enable hardware acceleration.
ummmm sorry buy i didnt find something about the dev version in the FAQ
~Meir
The FAQ just doesn't describe how to obtain the source, but this is mentioned at http://code.google.com/p/hedgewars/source/checkout.
It's a little bit complicated to set it up the first time. First, you need to grab the source using mercurial, that is hg clone https://hedgewars.googlecode.com/hg/ hedgewars (you may need to install the package mercurial first). Then, you need to fulfil all requirements mentioned in the INSTALL by installing the corresponding packages using your packet manager and then compile the program as described in the INSTALL.
There is also an automated build script at http://www.hedgewars.org/node/590, but I haven't tried it yet and you need to use mercurial (hg) instead of the svn command mentioned there.
Good luck.

ummmm im still stuck with this thing i dont know whats wrong with my computer but it just wont let me install it...
~Meir
BTW, it may not run as well in a virtual machine.
As for getting stuck, if you just copy and paste those lines, it should be fine.
The download is a bit slow though, maybe you didn't wait for it to finish.

ah i maybe you're right it said something like adding files or something like that and after 10 minutes i thought its not working and quit
~Meir
Yes, there is no progress metre on that by default, and mirroring the repo as hg does takes a while. (that's why the post I linked you to said to wait as this takes a while :-p )
If you want to monitor progress, you can check on the size of that directory - when fully mirrored it would be like 450 megs or so.
