Hosting an LAN game

Hey there, I'm fairly new to this game. Actually very new but whatever.
I'd like to be able to host a few of my friends on a LAN-type game, having multiple computers connecting. Is this possible or do I have to go into the worldwide lobby and just kick anyone I don't want there?
Thanks,
``Spoon`
You can use the provided server (under Windows it's called "hedgewars-server.exe"; under Unix you might have to enable compiling it using "cmake -DWITH_SERVER=1") or just set your room to private (hidden/invite only).
Just be aware that the server will not let you connect to it if it's running on a Windows 7 machine. At least I cannot connect to it, currently using a netbook for a LAN server that has XP on it, works great.
@Smaxx:
Any news/updates on this issue ? I tried everything I could think of last night to get it running on Win7, but to no avail. Run as admin, compatibility, changed install location to c:\HW, etc, nothing would work I could see the room, the name didn't show up, just the IP & port info.
Tried running netstat -an to view listening ports & got the following:
TCP [::]:46631 [::]:0 LISTENING
"If you want to play a game that's exactly the same as worms. Play worms." - Tiyuri
Thanks guys, unfortunately I'm on win7
ALthough, does anyone know if you will be able to host/join LAN games in version 0.9.14 or later in the future?
If you (and everyone else) get lucky there might an option to lock rooms with password on .14, but don't get your hopes too high just cause I mentioned it, I'm not a developer.
I've noticed quite a few people mentioning the "LAN server" before only so they can get to play with their friends without the hassle of having to constantly kick (which also doesn't look nice) other players that try to join. Plus if you make it private, it makes the room disappear from the list.
