Maps not installing on Ubuntu
Tue, 2010-09-07 18:49
First off I searched.
It works on windows just fine, but when I try to place my maps in usr/share/games/Hedgewars/Data Ubuntu won't let me. I am the Admin, but it says I can't do it.
I'm new to Ubuntu/Linux, anything not windows.
I just wanted to put my maps on my laptop so I can show my coworkers how to make maps, and get a few more map makers.
Any ideas?
Well, I'm not the most familiar with Ubuntu either, but I think you have to be logged in as root to copy into that folder:
Root user has all the administrator privileges so whenever you need to edit system files or configuration from within Gnome, you will feel the need to login to Ubuntu as a root user. But the question is here is “How to login to Ubuntu as a root user?”
Just follow the steps below:
Open the terminal and type: sudo passwd root
When you see the prompt that says “Enter new UNIX password”, enter the password you want for the root user and confirm it.
But from there I cannot remember what to do. Not in front of it right now........

You have to run your file manager as root. To do this press alt+f2 and enter: gksu nautilus
thanks, it worked fine.
