That seems to be a bit of a contradiction. You'd think it'd either crash or it wouldn't.
Here's a few things to try.
* Enable FPS display, and check to see what your default FPS is
* Try reducing your window size. If it is 1280x960 for example, try 1024x768 - you can always zoom out when playing.
* Whatever your operating system is, test with effects disabled. In Linux, that would be disabling compiz (Ubuntu Natty, start classic with no effects, Maverick or earlier, choose no effects in appearance). In XP, that would be System Properties->Advanced->Performance->Settings->Adjust for best performance
* pastebin your game0.log so we can check your graphics card settings - you might be running in software mode under windows. That would slow things down a lot
* Try updating your graphics card driver from the manufacturer. There may be one out there with better opengl support
* Try Reduce Quality slider in game config. Try the setting all the way to the left, or one off from the left.
* Try enabling vsync on your graphics card in its settings. For nvidia cards under linux, you can just try launching hedgewars with the __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1 environment variable, to test it for a single app.

"starts to crash" ?

err, is this for mobile version of hedgewars or for the desktop one?
if it's the mobile version, what kind of device/version are you using?
Oops. My bad. I hadn't even checked to see what forum he was posting in, and had assumed desktop
