Is is intended that cakes can walk underwater?

It’s not obvious and not everybody may know it: The cake can also walk underwater.
Is this a bug or is it intentional?

I wonder how many people are aware of the different things that can travel in water. It might make a fun thread, see how many people come up with.
I can think of 4 prior the .19 change, which raised the count by quite a lot.
