Hedgewars for 3DS
The concept of hedgewars for the wii has been tossed around, and has been added as an idea for GoSC

use the just released Freepascal compiler to port Hedgewars on the Nintendo Wii! Engine should run on its own, but the input method has to be completely redone for the Wiimotes and a (basic) frontend should be also provided.Skills: fpc, c++

Now, I recently got a 3DS a few weeks ago (<3 Nintendo), and thought it might be fun if I had hedgewars on it.
Now, I don't know how possible this is and all, considering it might even have to be re-written completely depending on if there is anything like the Freepascal Compiler for the Wii mentioned above or not, but maybe somebody could look into it, and perhaps it could be a future GSoC/GCI project.
I'm also thinking releasing Hedgewars for 3DS would be good because there is currently no Worms games for 3DS and the most recent DS worms game was from 2007, just mentioning.
Thoughts?

Cool, I kinda skimmed through that, and I don't think I understood most of it, but, well, cool!
We ended up not getting my computer fixed, but soon this one will be my new computer, and soon we'll get the files off my hard-drive too.
I was just wondering if this was released, how would it be distributed? Especially since there is a very small chance (if at all) that it will be released through cartridges, and I have no idea how you can get your game on the Nintendo eShop, but it will probably require a pricy license.
I'm guessing it wouldn't be hard to just have a download link on this site that you could manually copy-paste onto your system's SD card.
Or you could always get it on an r4...

Interesting, I only skimmed it for now.
So it's not impossible, but there are some issues that we'd have to overcome first.
E.g. we are not a company so we are not eligible to be a licensed developer unless we can use a umbrella org for that or something.
Possible licensing issues and whether we can make the game available for free or if we have to charge some minimum, and so on.

Seems fun! It doesn't seem likely to have it happen on eshop, so would using homebrew as an alternative be an option?
Though, now that I think about it, Nintendo might hate Hedgewars for it.
