Push button to set bindings
Let me start by saying I love this game, it is probably the best game of this genre that I have played, all the others always have little things that I don't like but it's like you took all the good bits from all of them and made this!
I have only recently discovered Hedgewars and the one niggle I would say is that it took me and my girlfriend a very long time to set up our gamepads for the game. Laboriously selecting each button from a huuuge list. It would be great if I could just click on each binding and press the desired button on my gamepad.
So that is my humble suggestion, the only other related thing is that some of the functions don't work so well on a gamepad. I would like it if I could select the same button as fire to select the weapon from the weapon select menu(set a slight delay after closing the menu so you don't blow yourself up?) and I would like to be able to use the same joystick axis for the weapon menu as I do to move, it just feels more intuitive. These are very minor points and I understand that the game is probably best played with keyboard and mouse.
We are playing it on Linux using PS2 style "Dual-shock" controllers and it is really fun! We love the music, and the voices! It plays great! Well done all!
What I'd like to see is a drop-down list so you can automatically select keybindings for keyboard, gamepad, control stick, etc.
Welcome to the Hedgewars community!
I'm glad to hear that you and your girlfriend have fun playing the game + we appreciate your kind words
As to your suggestion - I totally agree with that ( see Issue 762: Allow settings key binds by capturing keys/key-combinations, instead of having to pick it from a list ).
The idea has come up again and again and I am positive that a key/button capture mechanism will make it into Hedgewars eventually, but if it will be next release or at some later point I do not know.
Either way: have fun and happy gaming
