Question: Screen Size unused screen real estate.

Just curious. Why is there so much empty space left and right pf island on open maps.
I've just made a map at 4096px and when loaded up there is still loads of space I'd loved to use. Any reason why we cant tuck into that real estate

You can make maps that are bigger than 4096px in an image editor, but wimpier machines may suffer so that is the default max size for most of the official maps. If you have a good map, feel free to upload it so that others can see/play it.

I think the main reason is to allow for girders and other stuff to be placed. Everything outside the image is outside of the map and nothing can be built there.

I guess the problem is that not everything which is visible is part of the map where you can place stuff.
