Turning music or sound on/off in current game?

I notice that when turning music or sound on/off in the settings, then going back to a currently running game, the changes don't take effect (until the next game). Could this be fixed? Thanks.
Settings don't get applied to current game in general.
For now you can use e.g. the key "8" in-game to toggle sound, "9" and "0" to change volume etc.
