I guess that would be for windows only, since OSX and Linux have autoupdate mechanisms already.

But not a bad idea, people seem to find discovering the download page difficult sometimes.

The question being I guess how to avoid having the button show up when already up to date, without having people's Hedgewars continually pinging checking for updates, which we've kinda tried avoiding (involuntary phoning home).

70% users can't find "downloadable content" for download themes\hats\etc, update button is useless. release link on the master server is better, especially 20+ font size.

Been thinking of making that server thing into an alert popup 'cause people sometimes ignore the blinking text ☺
