Seems like Qt4 is the current default while there was some effort going on for migration to Qt5.

Given that Qt4 support on the latest macOS became obsolete, the current formula in Homebrew package manager (http://www.hedgewars.org/node/6206) will be likely removed sometime soon unless it gets updated for Qt5. I'd like to hear about the current status of Qt5 support on macOS and update the formula accordingly.

By the way, in the case of the formula removal, users may still install Hedgewars by using Cask, a binary package manager now integrated into Homebrew:

brew cask install hedgewars

Thank you for the info.

While we, well, mostly just unCORr, put a lot of effort into the basic functionality of the new Qt5/QML-Frontend, it is still far from being ready for prime-time.
Unless there is a sudden influx of contributions I'd be surprised to see it released before 2018, to be honest.

In the meantime we will probably end up having to establish Qt5-Compatibility within the existing Frontend.
I have been out of the loop for a little though, possibly there are plans for that already *shrugs*

Can't you just update without converting to this new QML (Qt Quick?) system. I'm making several Qt widgets apps and so far haven't found differences between Qt 4 and Qt 5.

Yes. That's what my last paragraph was supposed to suggest. That someone could upgrade the existing frontend to Qt5, so that we have a Qt5-compatible frontend even before the QML frontend is finished.

FYI, `hedgewars` formula has been removed from homebrew-games tap for now. Feel free to let us know when it becomes Qt5-ready as we'd love to bring it back.

Meanwhile, Homebrew users can still install hedgewars via Cask which links to the official binary.

Thanks for the heads-up Smile
