I make this post so I can show my request from IRC to Forum
Wuzzy suggesting me to post it here...
Okay
I'll start with "why more sounds ?" and "What required and produced from it then ?"
Here :
- I need them :
- For Background Ambient
- For Music
- For Tons of "General" SFX (Important)
- For Massive amount of Abilities SFX
- For Buff Sounds
- We may need them :
- All next generation will have more opportunity to add their own sounds into Hedgewars
- For letting people do even larger creativity on their creation
- So we can "Avoid" conventional modes like we have make before
- Making better stuff here will be easier with custom sound features
- As Sound Reserves Stock :
- More sound reserves, why not ?
- For later use (no need to wait next release again)
- What Positive Profit may come out from this :
- Future creation of Hedgewars Member will be more colourful with unique sound they brought
- Even greater potential to make better stuff
- Creativity limit dramatically extended
- For avoiding "Mainstream" creation
- What Negative Effect may come out from this :
- Small clutter of soundid(s) IF not handled with care
- Require works for devs, which need to be avoided
- Require maximum 1MB of memory (when only using dummy replaceable sounds)... this space need to be avoided
- Adding dummy sound really frustating and untidy job to do
end
So...
Please considering for this
As the next 0.9.23 Release was a big release (last recent updates release seems a long time ago even before I born in Hedgewars)
I really sure -> Next release after 0.9.23 will be a LONG way, really long way
Therefore
If this isn't added now, then when ?

Well, we discussed this before.
I personally am not in the mood to implement this. At least not now. I'm more concerned with fixing bugs.
There is also a bunch of big problems to solve. Like how are the custom sounds going to the clients, where in the HWP file should they be stored, etc.
Also note that custom scripts are not the main focus of Hedgewars.
I'm not opposed to your idea in general, however. But it looks like a lot of work. This is one of those ideas to think more about when everything else is stable and works fine.

Update: Nemo has added a set of overridable sounds, with the identifiers sndCustom1 - sdnCustom8.
You can test these in 0.9.23 Release Candidate 1.
