It's simple. A machine that walks for 1 second every turn and drops a mine. Then it's turn ends, but then next turn it again walks for 1 second and drops another mine, and so on until it goes under water or gets 'killed'. So after 5+ turns you will have a mine field. I believe this weapon will cause those wonderful moments when you say 'hmmm...' happen more often.

So the minebot navigates just like a cake, only it can't go under water. When it's upside down, the mines just fall down until they reach the ground or water.
And, like the cake, it's direction is set by the player. Also, the minebots have 55 health, and when you 'kill' them, they explode really hard.

Thank you, I hope you like my idea.

The idea is nice but, will it be another weapon that will have that very bad attribute that it won't fall off the edges? I guess it should fall off the edges, just as I think cake should fall.

I like the idea of a weapon that does not fall of edges and can go upside down.

How many not falling off the edges weapons will we get? Guess some people liked the idea and now every walking weapon will be glued to the surface? :/

btw. I like the idea of this weapon, it's quite cool.

not bad idea, but it should walk as long as it can > fall of the edges and fall into water...
I also think there is more fun weapons to implement first, like those from worms, but nice idea Wink Smiley

See, I am not the only one who wants walking weapons to fall off the edges, but I will give it a timer with let's say 5-10 seconds.

In the cake, I really like the idea of a weapon that could walk up/down cliffs, and even upside down! I believe it's the perfect idea, because you can still do damage to hedgehogs that are hiding in a corner and are too deep for air/mine strike to reach them.

Hello

Why not combining both parts?

For a certain time, the mine-dropper runs, lets say for 10 seconds. It drops mines or bombs or whatever. During this time, it can walk upside down and won't fall off the edge. Instead of that it runs upside-down all the time, there's a second timer, after which the machine will fall down (if currently upside down) or if reaching an edge that it just would fall down.

Maybe when crashing from a high mountain it should inflict some damage to hedgehogs which are closest to the landing point.

The idea of having such a machine is quite nice... But it must be well configured as there are several facts to think about: a) It gets too easy. b) There's danger people kill themselves. Which isn't always bad. :P c) a runtime of 10 seconds is quite long. Maybe it should be shorter...

Maybe another, similar idea is to have some kind of Santa Clause which spawns at a certain moment (not player-triggered) and brings a present to any of the hedgehog. The content of the package may be some weapons, some health or even a bomb which explodes right after the hedgehog receives it :P The list of possibilities is nearly endless...

Regards

Way to random weapon. Not good for worms-clone which is not only an action game but also, in the great part, stratedy game! Guess cake weapon made a lot of mess, or the whole discussion around this weapon made that mess. Now people will propose hundreds of Cake clones, boring.

Maybe... maybe not. As far as I understood the aim, hedgewars doesn't need to be a worms-clone. The words "worms-like" is not in the subtitle anymore.
Might be we should be discussing about another weapons. But I think its anyway important to think about a revision of this weapons as it is very powerful. And if misused it's notfunny...
