Welcome to the club. I remember I worked 2 months full time on a map for Red Eclipse. I spend so much time on it. And then I watched a Let's play of Quake 4 where every 10 minutes there were a maps that were detailed even better than my own map. It suddenly dawned on me how much man-years are spent on video games.

Well, that can be done with hwp for scripts, but idk that can be used for themes (if it is)

It can be done for individual themes. I originally requested it for my Fire theme, because fire making splashing sound would be awkward. Then I found more uses (including the theme I posted screenshot before).

If you manage to run the alpha build, you can try it yourself. Just put your own splash.ogg in your theme directory and that sound will be overridden for that theme. You can do the same with skip.ogg (small splash) and Droplet1/2/3.ogg.

I was making maps and server-side plugins for TF2, not maps. I was modding many other games.

I knew about Hedgewars for a long time but was sticking with Worms until I got too annoyed of proprietary software. Hedgewars was one of the first games I've tried.

Even though you ended this post, I wanted to say one last thing:
Go ahead an try something new! Without new things to fuel our lives an actions, life would be boring. If you just stay with Hedgewars, it would be fun for a while, but the thought of trying something new will overpower the fun of Hedgewars, and youll get bored with it. So "put Hedgewars in your rear view mirror for a while." No ones saying you have to quit, just go try a new thing for a while. But don't PERMANENTLY quit though. You were one of the first people to respond to my first post (when I was a noob LOL), and you have been my inspiration (and friend) since.
Thanks for what you have given us as a Hedgewars now and hope to see you in the future
Also, have fun with your other projects. I too have other projects, but always come back to the game of fighting hedgehogs
