Here is my set of changed names and teams set. It can be directly extracted to the user data folder, or have its extension changed to '.hwp' for quicker use. It is not yet intended for inclusion into Hedgewars itself. Note that many of the files I upload are stored on a web server at my home, read more here: https://pastebin.com/DpiSc5vP New names and teams, first version: http://45.21.218.32:81/Names.zip If my web server becomes unfeasible to use, the files will reappear somewhere else, and I will change the links accordingly. BTW, I have one quick question: While looking through all the hats included with the game, I noticed some hats with filenames beginning with 'vc_*'. Can someone help me identify what this stands for, which also helps me find out where these characters come from?

Nice Big Grin ! Congrats for your completion of your contribution ^^ For the quick question I think "vc_" stand for "Vocaloid" and those character seems came from Vocaloid as well With note that I don't know is it right, but I really sure it is (Only the creator can verify) Also Other hats with specific suffix with separation between its name (separator "_") stand for where they come from, but shorter. Another example: "sm_" prefix stand for "Super Mario" <- For case if you're asking this as well I hope I answer the question correctly ^^
Nice Big Grin ! Congrats for your completion of your contribution ^^
This is only a preview of what I had completed so far; there are still many more teams that I could add, but am starting to run out of unique ways to name them. While I'll still try my best to get more names and team sets here, I need more people to suggest me, too.

Maybe don't forget about the original names.zip; I updated this file to include my latest changes, and it comes with the large names list. I have a more exhaustive names list here: http://45.21.218.32:81/wikinames/wikinames.zip This list-set has been developed for use with Hedgewars, but the lists may be used anywhere else where names are needed as they are released into the public domain with CC0. They are sourced from Wikipedia pages. To make organization easier, they have been split into multiple files. I also accommodated non-Western names in the mix, as part of one my goals to make Hedgewars more diverse. Straw Hat! Ninja Full! Samurai! Girder To actually use this list-set, the .txt files must be placed in the same directory where the hat configs are (Data/Names); it is okay to place them in the user data directory. However, the names are not yet usable at this point; I provided a config file for NoHat: http://45.21.218.32:81/hedgewars-work/Names/NoHat.cfg; configs for other hats must be created manually. I hope that this list-set provides us all with more names that we should be less likely to run out of. Wink Smiley BTW, I have also created several more teams in this file (place in user data directory for it to work), and also altered some more: http://45.21.218.32:81/hedgewars-work/Names/types.ini Note that this file can always change, so check back regularly for any updates.

So, new content is definitely appreciated - I think one intent of the automatic names though, was to go for fun/funny/cute/themed. Not so much just "generic person names in language X" - much the same as the goal of rest of game. Could grab all of openclipart and turn it into game maps, but doesn't mean they'd play well or look good

One addendum to the prior comment would be that if people do want to try a large list of generic names, basically anything under Data can be hosted on our DLC if you want to package it for them. Make an HWP and I'll toss it on there. I bet text compresses really well.
