Multiplayer net game problem

I'm trying to internet game with my friend and when we both have tried hosting, we also both get Connection Timed Out error. How do I fix this?

Did that one who clicked "Start Server" make sure that the necessary ports are forwarded on your router? This is a very important step of setting up a server. If you didn't do this, it won't work.

If you need any help about this, you may post here or get some manuals about your router. I'll try to help as far as I can...
