I like this suggestion. Good suggestion. Smile

We have a list of art suggestions, and this includes all sorts of improved hog animation.

I have added your suggestion to the list.

We just need someone who draws a nice animation. Not me, I'm not a good artist, sorry. Sad Smiley

Wow, that's a lot of expression! IMO it could be a bit annoying to see that constantly when a hog is at the edge. Maybe something that only changes legs position in a static manner would work better, kinda as if character tried to approach the edge very carefully.

I think it looks pretty cute!

Granted it'd be annoying if every hog on an edge were doing that, but if it were just CurrentHedgehog and the animation only played while you weren't actively moving/aiming, I don't think it'd be that bad. How long do you spend idly on an edge like that before firing/skipping your turn? Maybe 2s or less? In that tiny window of time it's important to clearly communicate the idea that your hog is in danger of falling, as I'd argue the threshold isn't very clear to new players. If the animation is too static/simple people might not notice it at all.

I agree with unC0Rr, it's too much expression / movement going on, especially when the animation is having only a few frames and is looping forever.

TBH, it also doesn't look really convincing to me. The eyes don't always look down, for example.

I like the idea of balancing on one leg, it just doesn't look convincing atm.

Anyway, I still appreciate any experimentation with hog animation. Smile

Note that with current hedgehog, we still need to consider the use of the current selected weapon, which the hog still needs to hold. The selected weapon must have precedence over “fancy” animations IMO. So it could only really be used with no weapon selected, actually.

Animation playing once, when hog stay 1 pixel to falling. Repeatable if back to the edge.
Animation doesn't start if holding forward movement.
For current hog only.
