two problems in translation
Wed, 2020-11-11 06:40
1.zh_CN.txt need to rename en.txt to work.
2.game not load zh_CN.lua, I try to fix locale.lua and it work.
if LOCALE ~= "zh_CN" then
HedgewarsScriptLoad("Locale/zh_CN.lua", false)
end
In version 1.0.0, zh_CN works without problems for me. I don't understand why it doesn't work for you.
But note this translation is currently very incomplete anyway.
Sorry, I don't know how I can help.

Thank you! Impressive work, I appreciate it! How do you want to be credited for this?
There are still a few problems before I will merge this.
I noticed a few bugs in the translation:
zh_CN.lua:
Translation is empty.
zh_CN.lua:
Non-ASCII percent sign.
There are two files for the frontend (game menu) translation: hedgewars_zh_CN.ts and hedgewars_zh_CN.qm. Which one should I use? Please note we want to only store TS files in the repository, it includes the source data while QM files are the machine-readable version of the files that are meant to be automatically generated.
In other words, we translators should work with TS files, but not with QM files.
I also noticed you used the hedgehog names (like "Leaks a Lot") verbatim in the translation. Is this intentional? Translations can and should feel free to also translate hedgehog names so it feels more "natural" in their own language. Feel free to be creative and humorous about it (does not need to be a "literal" translation). The only requirement is that once you picked a name, you must make sure to use it consistently everywhere. In German, for example, I translated "Leaks a Lot" with "Undichte Stelle".
But you are the translator, so the ultimate decision is up to you. Just a reminder.
Hi, I am a Hedgewars developer.
"transfer hog's pool", "杀死刺猬不会转移他的预设武器给杀手" (kill hedgehog won't transfer his preset weapons to killer), I guess it's unnecessary, so leave empty instead english.
please fix %

Names are usually transliterated, I'm not good at it

No, that's not how translations should work. If you suggest to remove a text from the game, suggest that. In that case, it should be removed from the game entirely, not just in a single language.
Why do you think this string is unneccessary? Also, I am not quite sure what the correct translation of the text above now actually is. Hmm …
Hi, I am a Hedgewars developer.
Okay. I just went ahead and added your translation to Hedgewars.
Here's the changeset: https://hg.hedgewars.org/hedgewars/rev/ba0688ba8fbd
I have fixed a few technical problems (things that would break the game, as mentioned before) in the translation myself.
Thanks for your work! You will be credited as "heretic43" in the next Hedgewars release (unless you want to appear under a different name in the credits).
I am happy to see Hedgewars translated in so many languages!
Note: Since I am not sure what to do, I have marked the following text as "untranslated":
If you post a translation for this text, I will include it as well, of course.
I also like to request an update for the strings 06:03 and 06:11 in zh_CN.txt. I don't know if it's intended, but I noticed English language again here.
I should probably explain what these 2 strings mean: The "/me" is a chat command, e.g. if you say "/me likes pizza." in the chat then in the chat there will be "heretic43 likes pizza.". The sentence in quotation marks is an example and can be translated safely (only the "/me" mustn't change, of course).
And "/lua" is a command that enables the Lua console. The part "(for developers)" just means that this command is meant to be used by developers. This part can be translated safely as well.
It's not super-important, I'm just giving you a heads-up.
