Hi,

during the now regular Monarchy game on the public Hedgewars server a registered user decided to spam-join the room he's banned in (due to being ignored by the room host). Usually that's not much of an issue, as the abusers usually use guest nicks for their nonsense, which can be filtered out by not letting guests join. However, with someone registering a nick to do the same this doesn't help anymore.

I've already discussed a little with burp on the Hedgewars chat, and there are some good ideas like finding non-admin moderators among the regulars on the public game server, or maybe setting up stricter join restrictions. While the latter is a good idea on its own, the abusers will find new ways to hurt the game community again and again, until some people actively monitor the events on the public server and instantly take action when being given reason to stop any abuse from happening.

Over the last few months and years, there was hefty flooding, some odd trolls insulting everyone and partly faking or even taking nicks from registered users to do so, the entire MDK drama only displaying more prominently what AC is busy doing to a lot of us over many years, and more. Most of this goes unreported to the admins, as we all just want to enjoy the game and not put energy into trouble instead of just enjoying the game.

All the more reason to finally find and employ active moderators monitoring the public game server as good as they can.

Since I was asked if I would want to be a moderator, sure, any time, just set it up so an IRC user with no experience in coding can handle things. Some people will disagree with my person doing the job, fine, find someone else.

But, for the love of hog, make it finally happen, it's already almost a million times too late to bother but better late than never.

All of this abuse and drama around the game made so many people leave Hedgewars or stay away from the same over the years, it's absurd and desperately needs to change. Yes, also if Wuzzy and all other admins seriously got better things to do than caring for a little community which is only little because of the constant abuse happening again and again.

So, long story short: please finally make the public game server as fundamentally moderated as literally any other public community place on the internet wanting to be welcoming to the world, thanks.
