Maybe I should start, since I'm a player myself

Hello,

my name here is sheepluva (a.k.a. Sheepy, Fluffers, etc.; IRL: Richard/Richie/"Jay"),
I'm some random dude from Austria, Europe, 30 years old now, but when I first saw Hedgewars on the Ubuntu Software Center (I think), I was in my early 20s x)

I remember that I was immediately impressed by how polished and pretty the game looked.
Eventually I ended up playing the game regularly (mostly online) and hanging out with the devs in chat, unC0Rr, nemo, koda and all those very nice people

What followed were experimental code changes and such - and eventually I ended up being a developer for the game myself.

I chose "sheepluva" as a developer name as a homage to the sheep weapon in some other game of the same genre (<3 the Aqua-Sheep), also because sheep are so fluffy and awesome, and I considered the name memorable - since it leaves room for interpretation :P

My hobbies are wasting my life on the internet, online games (Hedgewars of course, also MMORPGs in the past, World of Tanks, etc. these days) and coding.
In the real world I'm usually busy with IT-related things of various kinds

I also supposedly have little, but very limited, artistic talent - which I try to use it for Hedgewars when there's an opportunity, although much of what I attempt to create remains unreleased or lands in the trash

Some years ago I 'retired' from being part of the Hedgewars community for personal RL-reasons, but eventually I came back, since I couldn't really stay away, as Hedgewars is part of my life, some kind of family, to me.

During the years I met some nice and amazing people here and I always enjoy watching you guys have fun, especially on YouTube when all the players are also in voice-chat

Well, I don't want sheepluva to think he's unloved, so here goes...

I discovered the game some time in 2009 (when I was 19), by poring through a list of open source games on Wikipedia. Hedgewars immediately struck me as a quality one (out of not terribly many), and I had enjoyed a certain other turn-based artillery game in the past... so I fell in love with it.

For years thereafter, I was quite obsessed with it... I would log on every night to play. Shoppa in particular caught my attention, and for a long time I took it rather seriously.

Nowadays, I don't play so much... I mostly just drop by every now and then to see who still comes on. But I'll never forget how much fun I've had with this game.

I made a few minor code contributions when I could be bothered, the most significant of which is probably the Balanced Random Weapon script, which still seems to be quite popular.

Other open source games I've enjoyed in the past: SuperTuxKart, M.A.R.S., Rigs of Rods, Battle for Wesnoth, SuperTux, MegaGlest, Teeworlds.

I'm Wohlstand (aka Vitaly, vdnovichkov, nvd5517),
I from Russia, Moscow. I discovered the game in 2011'th year in the ... Wikipedia while I read about Worms series ([0.9.16] when I was 19 at 2nd year in my university) while I was a student. But some time I was paused playing Hedgewars and returned back in 2013'th year [0.9.19] where I finally started using of "Wohlstand" nickname instead of "vdnovichkov" or "nvd5517". I had a lot of time and then I got good skills in game.

In real life I'm a C++ Programmer and IT-Manager, I had to completed studding in my university and now I'm a graduated Engineer.

I made some contributions in the Server code (I have few bug fixes in the records checker tool), I have been recorded Russian localized voice pack "Default_ru" (Which a true Russian voice pack, not than parody to translated into English Soviet films).

Now I have my own libre (not free beer!) game engine project: Having inspired by SMBX - a Mario fan game made by Andrew Spinks (who is creator of a Terraria game), I started my own game engine project to have SMBX-compatible game engine without closing to copyright stuff (which was a huge mistake of SMBX Creator and brand parasitism from his side). Game engine designed especially for a platform genre games, and it have "PGE Project" working title. For example, One of non-Mario games made with using of hacked SMBX game engine. The main story tells about alien Cyclops siblings who travels between different worlds and solves various problems happened in them. Purpose of my game engine is providing independent, cross-platform and flexible technical stuff to create similar games.

You may know me as Sphrix, but in real life my name is Clément and i am 22. I am from France and playing Hedgewars Online brought me to a new level of English : communication with other, real other, not book or movie.

Hedgewars made his entry in my life when i was looking for free alternative to Worms, i found it some years ago, it was the version 0.15. Some month later i had my first PC, i could play more and i specialised myself into Shoppa after seeing a compil of best shoppa moves on Youtube.
I played it a lot, made some friends (Buffon, Cekoto, Lolkiller <3<3<3<3<3<3), i got my hand into creating some shoppa maps and the next step was a mission : portal, with the help of real developper ; i also adapted Mikade shoppa mission's code to other maps. It was really a game i spend hours and hours on it. Liking it so much i also helped to the french translation.

And then one day, a friend introduced me to League of legend, this was the day i stopped playing hedgewars :s
But the game is still in my heart and i still visit the forum sometime to see what's new.

I'm a student in psychology, i also have in mind to write books one day.

Hi Im now a 30 years old guy from Poland. I discovered this great game a two weeks ago (accidentaly) when searching for alternative to Worms game. Finally when I discovered Hedgewars I was shocked - that style, almost like old Worms - but with better visuals, improvements, gameplay and community (that last point is important to me)

Im a type of guy who dont look at visuals/modern effects in games at first glance, rather than I looking for replay-ability and fun. Thats why after these years I still playing old Unreal Tournament game and making maps/models for it, helping new guys and such.

Anyway Im not pursuing new games like most people do, when some old titles are still better than new ones.
Im a oldskool player raised in C64 and later, Amiga eras, then NES, PSX, PS2. When other companies starting making own consoles, that climate lost forever, now I use PC for emulating stuff that I still love, and of course Im using it for my little hobby - map making/modelling (Im average at that btw) ^^

Hedgewars is a type of game that joins people at different age and skill, I like it a lot for that, and hoping Hedges will live forever! - and more and more and much more people join our community to make fun matches and friendship

Hi, I'm Star and Moon, otherwise known as Sam (not my real name). When I was more active in the community, I made a lot of hats, and I used to make comics that featured a group of hedgehogs that work at a space corporation similar to NASA. Although the comics have been on hiatus for probably about a year now I may still pick it up again sometime.

I'm not often online these days although I have been getting back into Hedgewars so maybe I'll start frequenting soon.

Introduction
Hi, I am Wuzzy, I live in the Internet, I speak German, English and a little bit Lojban and and I am “addicted” to gaming and computing in general. I am a gamer since I was a child and have played very many video games of all sorts of genres. Over the years, I have completed at least 209 video games (counting only video games you can actually “finish”, of course).

I also like to create all sorts of stuff for games and I am also sorta kinda a programmer and I hope that I eventually create my very own game. Maybe? Since a few years I am also a supporter of free software.

The Worms Years
I was a big fan of the Worms series. The first Worms game I've played was Worms: Armageddon and I think this is also the best in the series. I also played some of the 3D titles: Worms 3D, Worms 4: Mayhem and Worms Forts: Under Siege. I have finished all those games and I think with every gimmick. Now, I don't play any of the Worms games anymore.
I also briefly played Wormux which later became WarMUX and now won't be developed any further. I don't play this game anymore.

Finding Hedgewars
Years later, I've found Hedgewars. I don't know how I've found it (somewhere in the Internet, lol) and when I've found it, but I know it was a while earlier before I registered to this forum.
First, I was not particulary interested in Hedgewars and a long time passed. As I've looked further into it, I discovered that I have grossly underestimated Hedgewars and became more interested.

Like many other games, I play Hedgewars in “phases”. I “rotate” between games from now and then. If you don't find me in the lobby, that means I am currently not in the “Hedgewars phase”.
But there are also “phases” where I just play at random. xD

My Hedgewars “Career” xD
I consider myselves to be one of the top Default players and a bad Shoppa player. The Default scheme is where I'm probably most skilled.
Hedgewars had a few tournaments over the years, and I have participated in some of them.
I have participated in 2 or 3 Shoppa tournaments, 1 The Specialists tournament and 2 Default tournaments. In all tournaments except the Default tournaments I was knocked out very early.

In singleplayer I sometimes also enjoy the Space Invasion mode. It is very silly but fun, you should try it!

If you think you can beat me or just want to play, challenge me via XMPP or IRC. Or just leave a forum message, but I rarely check.

My biggest achievements as a Hedgewars gamer so far:

• I came 3rd in the Hedgewars Tournament 2015 (Default tournament), I am not very proud of it.
• I was the first who finished the RC Plane Challenge with only one airplane and show proof of it (Here's the brag thread: http://www.hedgewars.org/node/4671). I was very proud of it.
• That's pretty subjective, but I can easily beat most online players in Default matches.
• I have finished every mission and both campaigns in the game (as of 0.9.21). Okay, it's not big at all, but this one is a pretty obligatory goal for someone like me. (EDIT: okay, ALMOST all missions, see below)

My Contributions to Hedgewars:

• I regularily update the German translation of Hedgewars
• I have created a German voicepack 3 times but the developers still don't like it!
• I have created the very silly LOLSPEAK voicepack
• I have started the WarMUX maps conversion project in which many new maps and some themes for Hedgewars have been created
• I have created the target practice missions you can find in Hedgewars
• I have made a couple of small improvements to other official missions; some of them became part of Hedgewars, some of them didn't
• I have created far too many flags, and a few graves, hats, themes, maps and missions
• Probably, I have created other small random stuff lying around in the depths of the forums.
• I made contributions to the Hedgewars Development Wiki

Edit: Okay, I have not finished every mission, actually. But almost all. I never managed to reach home in Climb Home so far.

I tend to start tens of projects as I have too many ideas and too little time I also often get distracted in doing random things so some of my games lay untouched for months. I found Hedgewars in a computer magazine. This was preceded by playing Worms with my friends and siblings years ago. Now I play Hedgewars, mostly with my younger brother. My contribution to this game are mostly the themes (I did 6 for now with 3 more in the works) and one flag. I also used my programming skills to make a Theme Editor. Of course Hedgewars is not the only game I play (actually I don't play it too much).

Hello World, Im KarBoy2314PL, Im from Opole, Poland, surprisingly 14 years old. Im speaking Polish (duh) and English. In Febuary 2014 I was a finalist in English foreign language tournament in Poland in Opole province. I am suffering in Asperger syndrome. I was playing Hedgewars in 0.19 times (I think?), but then I made a huge half-year break. I was then playing as 'Karol Wojtarowicz' but I requested to change my nickname.

Now I'm here making content for hedgewars. I've made almost (or in future more than) 200 graves, 20 flags, 70 hats, 10 voicepacks, 20 maps (including multiplayer missions), 20 themes and 10 scripts. All of that avalible in my creations thread.

Im not doing only that. Im sometimes playing some CS:GO, and maybe Minecraft with my brother, or maybe even Modded Minecraft with some of my friends from my clan, like @krasnal.

I gave a chance to the game and I was immediately in love with it by its simplicity, never fails to surprise you but, above all, for being a lot of fun.

When I'm not playing Highlander I'm working on a telecommunications store as a salesman. I have a degree in business management but I am currently a salesman in a telecommunications company.

I was borned in the USSR, Moscow, in the period when the Soviet leader M.Gorbachev started his "Perestroika" together with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. When I was a very little boy, long time before going to school, as a Happy Birthday present I was given some video games made by "Electronika". Getting up in the morning, after having a breakfast, I played these games as much as I could, having a lot of fun. So I knew about what is microelectronics and how cool it is to play computer video games. My another favorite game was chess, I have been playing it since early childhood too. I believe "Hedgewars" is similar to chess, especially the default mode, so it is possible to build a deep theory of the game "Hedgewars", which would be similar to the theory of chess.

In the cursed 1990s a flow of West trash crowded the market and the consciousness, I stopped to play games (except chess) and started to watch cartoons on TV. Then "Tetris" appeared, I stopped to watch cartoons and started to play "Tetris": at home, at school between lessons, even in street. After "Tetris", it was "Dendy", the games "Mario", "Prince of Persia" and "Jungle Book"... I forgot to say about the workstation called "video sport" - made in Russia, connected to a TV-set, a old toy. Suddely in my home a book about computers appeared, I stopped to watch cartoons, stopped to play games and started to study computers: how to use them and how to write programs. After this, a real computer appeared, I started to play again, it was primarily "Doom" and sometimes card games. Then I grew up and started to learn mathematics and theoretical physics; after school I had very few time, but I could allow myself to play "Doom". I tried to write my own games, I am very proud that together with a friend we've implemented a chess engine, such that it could beat some people; unfortunately, it sucks from serious programs, that's why we didn't finish that project. Oh, and once a friend of mine showed me the game called "Worms 2". Nya! Nyaa! ^^ But at that time, I did not play it a lot.

So, what happened then... The university, "Doom", "Duke", "Dune", no more chess, card games together with friends and sometimes with computer, "Worms Armageddon" - both against computer and together with friends on the server. Then there was a girl, who did not play computer games, the friends were becoming more busy, so I played less than before. Later, a boring period of my life, the necessity to find a job depressed completely. I started to be interested in politics against Putin and even visited some illegal meetings (now I support putinism again, as I did in the 2000s, but I don't visit any meetings any more, either legal or illegal, except maybe some anarchist activities dedicated to the problem of the political prisoners). But in general I hate politics, and I am not interested in it at all.

Once a friend showed me the "Hedgewars", it was the version 0.9.14 of the game. Such happened that I started to play online, it was very interesting, and I thank a lot all of the people, including the players and the developers, who made the game interesting. While playing "Hedgewars" I was listening to music, mainly Egor Letov - one of the symbols of the opposition movement in Russia, R.I.P. - who gave me the image of communism so that I started to love the Soviet Union and everything made in the Soviet Union, though in general I am against the Soviet Union, because of difficult reasons. So, for a few years I played as much as it was possible: I played after work, before work, sometimes instead of going to work, played at holidays, at nights, before going to sleep, sometimes instead of going to sleep. Being sleeping, sometimes I played in my dreams. Once I even played in the real world with my friends, we used snowballs instead of weapons. It was the time when "Hedgewars", communism and Egor Letov were almost the same things for me, such an indivisible single whole.

What did I contribute to the game? Maybe a few bug reports and, I hope, some fun for everybody with whom I had the honor to play, because if not to have fun, then why to play? But yes, sometimes I play just for playing, I don't know why I am still playing, sometimes it happens that I completely delete the game from computer and in an hour I install it again, connect to the server and start playing. For me, to connect to the server is always similar to a mystical ceremony, I expect for wonders, and sometimes they really happen there, on the server. I believe that the server lives his own life, it is a living organism, and it is interesting to watch it, observe and communicate with it. Sometimes I ask myself: "Why am I doing so?" I have no answer, I just sit down at the computer, connect to the server and start playing. I believe that the most important value in the current society is peace, and the highest role of the server is to prove this, because people can play here regardless of their country or any other descriptions.

A few words about my present life. At the current moment I am trying to pay less attention to the science and to pay more attention to the religion, especially Orthodoxy. I am christened, I have a cross, but I am still staying an atheist. For a few years I worked as a programmer, developing some production for the armed forces; it is difficult to describe the feeling, when you realise that the lines of you program code might be used against living people to kill them, such an excitement, close to euphoria. Recently I stopped because of the political situation in Russia. Now I am a teacher.

I knew this game i think 7/8 years ago because one of my friend showed it to me and we started to play online vs each other.
After played it a lot i stopped it cause due to a house-moving i haven't internet for a while. When I finally got internet again my friend wasn't playing so i started playing online most Highlander and BRW. I was playing occasionally with players like Cazamanda,elitium, krammer nd others when i knew Stef. I got impressed by him cause on highlander he used the rope really well and asked him to teach me how.

So like 3 years ago he introduced me to shoppa world and i fell in love with it. It was really hard to get used of shoppa, it's a frustrating mode at the beginning, that's why maybe most of player avoid it like plague x) but, after i knew Sparkles(Nexia)(he was learning too), we started to compete to see who was the better.
In that period Shoppa Cup started too and there i knew and became friend with most of pro shoppers like Bufon, Radiss, Randy, quetzalcóatl and so on. I still dunno how i got the 3rd place on that tournament... hihihih.. XD but that increase my passion.

After 3 years i'm still playing Shoppa quite every day, u can see me online the night, when i get home. In this period I met soo much players, i started join the IRC channel and talk with devs helping them to test whatever to test, i love trying some new. I would like to sponsor shoppa to new players and so last year me and Nexia with devs help organized the Shoppa Championship and i taught Shoppa to some player like amn, eldiablo and others.

I would like to thank all guys who help this game to grew up every day from long time, all devs who still work on it, all players who join it. Thank to all guys who join this great community too, u are all really nice people.

I speak English, love playing gun/no-rule-games(like moded minecraft)(if you play minecraft check put the flans millions of awesome mods).
who brought me to this game? Well about 4 years back we started having probs with windows not updating. we could only get on the internet (which was super slow)so my dad started researching how to fix it. we couldn’t, so we had to hook up my cpu to the internet (I only was allowed to use game cds on that cpu) (I was really young) so we eventually got that fixed, but that windows version forwards became control Nazis. for 2-3 years we put up with it, eventually it got to be too much. so we started looking for something else. we eventually found linux mint and tried it. we liked how almost everything is free and without the control issues. we tried other linuxes but they did not suit us so we went back to linux mint. dad was package downloading (package downloader comes with the operating system) and we saw the game section, so we went through picking out games we thought we might like. (thats actually how I started to find out about minecraft. (in linux its called mineplex [although its horrible compared to minecraft]) so we tried hedgewars and we love it(me and my brother). then I had nothing to do the one time so I started searching the game names to see what would come up and I found this site. I'm looking forward to the edit mode were you can place buying and in-game placing stations. We don't want to wreck our cpu tring to put on the new hedgewars so were just waiting for them to update the repositorys or the version of linux mint. you should really check out all the super tux stuff too! there is supertuxkart, extremesupertux, and theres one more I cant remember at the moment. I'm not new to this game, but I'm don't know a lot of the stuff either.

Hi, I'm Hans Topo, from Spain.
I joined the Hedgewars community in version 0.9.17. I'm famous in the community for creating the Terrible Apocalíptico game mode, my own mode, which a huge amount of players have enjoyed. The game mode is the first in the Hedgewars Community which introduced increased damage, health, mines and explosives to the Highlander mode. This mode has been copied and modified by other players in the community, so I feel kind of proud of that people like my destructive creation.

I'm a 21 year old guy from germany. I discovered Hedgewars ~5 years ago when I searched for Linux games. I found Hedgewars over a Wikipedia article, iirc. I was impresed by it's graphics and I had to give it a try. I'm not the best Hedgewars player, but this doesn't stop me from playing this game from time to time. My favourite game genre is probably the FPS-genre.

In real life I'm a electronic technician for industrial engineering, working for a local water supplier. In my free time I enjoy doing some C/C++/PHP/SourcePawn stuff and skateboarding. I also founded a gaming related forum, which orphaned over the time.

My Nickname has no deeper meaning. I just picked some words, glued them together and removed some letters. After some time I came up with "Zilor".

I've been playing Hedgewars for around a few months now, but only bot matches. I'm working on downloading the latest release so I can play online

I'm over on Scratch where most people know me from. I like playing Just Dance and messing around with game scripts. I'm currently working on a Just Dance pack of hats, which is why I registered on the website (since I'm gonna use them in online matches )

I only speak English, and I mostly enjoy the gravity setting in the scheme, Continental Supplies, and the Specialists (or any mod thereof.)

I'm a somewhat-good hat-maker/Lua scripter, so I hope to share a lot of cool stuff with you guys!

I was a master of DDtank/Gunny/Boomz (a Gunbound - Worms clone) Online Webgame. I have quit this game for 1 month because it basically a pay to win game, it is not fun anymore and I dont want to install Flash Player on Linux.

I am looking for a similar game of this type and found Hedgewars.

I hope this game and this community will countinually expand.

Hi, I'm FaTony. I'm a free/libre software/culture activist, C++ developer and musician.

Worms Armageddon was one of my first computer games and I've spent countless hours playing it. When I stopped using proprietary software, Hedgewars was one of the first libre games I've tried. I wanted to contribute to it's development but found out that the engine is written in Pascal and I don't like Pascal. So now I'm looking into Lua. I'm not a fan of Lua but it seems to be a most popular scripting language for games so I'm looking into adding it to my own game engine.
