For highlander to be more balanced
IMHO, in the current version of Highlander mode (0.2) game result depends on luck too strongly. For example, you may have a hog with close-distance weapons locked in a cave near water, such that it becomes useless. Or, you may have many transport utilities together with cool weapons, such that it will be too easy for you to destroy your opponent.
I offer: as it is done in the mode with king and specialists, hogs must not have random positions in highlander. Before starting a game, looking at the weapons of your current hog, you need to choose place for him by your own mouse. Moreover, after you placed your hogs, when you know the weapons for all of your hogs, you might want to replace some of them. So, I offer not only to disable computer to choose starting position, but also to disable all of the weapons for the first move (maybe except of utilities).
This changes should make Highlander mode more balanced and less dependent on Luck.
Hi there. I agree with you that Highlander 0.2 relies too heavily on luck. However, at the time of your post, the latest version is just "Highlander" not "Highlander 0.2". Please play the official version and not DLC variants before making suggestions on gameplay. Personally, I would delete 0.1-0.3 now that they are outdated. You can read about the adjustments that were made for the script here: http://hedgewars.org/node/3397
If you want to try be more strategic, consider some of the suggestions on our wiki: http://www.hedgewars.org/node/3413

Mikade, thank you for the interesting links. Once I found a project called "unofficial Hedgewars manual":

Why was it stopped? Wiki is good enough, but collecting issues into a single book is also useful. A PDF-file can be distributed with new versions of the game, it can be printed, can be more comfortable sometimes, because all of the information is ordered. Any new changes in the game are clear to see.
A very important moment is the following: Wiki contains up-to-date information, but older versions of Hedgewars require own manuals. The older versions are necessary, for example, to watch the recorded demos (by the way, why don't you add a link to the older versions of Hedgewars on the page with downloads?)
About the Highlander, I've played your mode for not enough time, such that I thought "just Highlander" to be "Highlander 0.1"... Kamikaze makes chances of players more equal, of course, the addition is very good, but it still seems to me, without manual placement luck still defines result sometimes. I cannot prove it, it was just an idea to discuss.
Oh, and once there was the following bug in Highlander mode: the map was closed, but one of the hogs got an air strike! Was it just a feature?
DLC must be versioned to avoid people playing with completely different versions of the script.
Once the script (or map or theme) is part of the official, versioning is not necessary, and even counterproductive.
All content is now part of the game itself which has a version.

FEATURE, definitely. :P
Nah, a lot of people have reported this is less than ideal, so I will probably fix for the next release of Hedgewars.
