Hi, as some of you may know I am going to create a new campaign mission for hedgewars this summer.

My story idea involves a "space trip". So, the hero hog will have to travel to different planets and learn new things.

Right now I am shaping my idea a little bit more. When I am ready I would like to discuss it here before start coding.

Anyway, I would like to ask you what skills and particularly what weapons you think a player should know after completing the campaign?

thanks Smile

SPACE TRIP?

Anyway, since we already got a beginner campaign, I guess the new one should be a little more hardcore.

Perhaps we could have areas in missions that require pro bazooka or grenade shots.

I see, skipping "weapon introduction" is convenient because it let me focus on the storyline etc.

Thanks for linking me to PAotH, I have read some issues from the hw news page bafore but I haven't understood that the whole concept was a space trip until now. Now that I know I'll read them all to see if there is any interesting idea I could include in the campaign Smile

Fill free to share any other suggestion you have here or in #hedgewars.

Thanks Wink Smiley

Since the hammer is probably the least used weapon in the game (along with seduction, maybe), I think it'd be cool if that could have a use in one of your campaign levels.
Maybe something which isn't immediately obvious, like hammering a barrel through a girder, to have it fall on two hedgehogs who just happen to be standing under it somewhere. Smile

Yes. I would prefer that, too.

Hello, I've been a little busy the last few days and couldn't post more details sooner as I wanted. Anyway, I'll post them now Smile

First of all I'd like to tell you about how I'd like to be the order of the campaign's missions.

As the story is about a space trip I am thinking of having a "menu" map that will show the home planet of the hero and above the planets that he'll visit.

So, hero will have to use the 'flying saucer' to visit the planets above.
When he'll land into a planet where there are available missions then game will end.

After that, in the campaign page in the front end, there will be available this planet's unlocked missions and an option to return to the "menu" map where he'll be able to visit another planet.

If hero visits a planet that there aren't any unlocked missions at the moment,
as he may have to complete some other missions first, he'll get properly informed.

A planet will have a basic mission that will follow the basic story line and may have secondary missions (like side-quests). Some side-quests may give the hero extra weapons or other bonuses.

That's my idea about how to navigate though missions. I have started creating a custom map for this purpose but isn't over yet (as my drawing etc skills aren't the best :P) and I have thought the changes that I'll have to do in the front end.

a) What's your opinion about it?

Now about the story line.

The hero's home planet is about to be hit by a giant meteorite! The only hope for the planet to get out of it intact is by using doctor Cornelius long hidden anti gravity beam device. A terrifying device of such a destructive magnitude that after constructed it Dr. Cornelius himself scattered it to the most safe places of the neighbor planets.

Now hero (Hog Solo), the best pilot of HASA, has a top secret mission to find all the hidden parts with the help of HASA director miss H and Dr. Cornelius nephew, Dr. Isaac.

Be fast as time is limited and watch out for the infamous Professor Hegvil. He and his terrible crew wants to collect the parts first in order to sell the powerful device to the extraterrestrial black market!

Additional details:

The anti gravity device is slitted in 4 pieces and scattered in the 4 nearby planets, the ice planet, the desert planet, the fruit planet and another one(not sure what will be the theme yet Big Grin).

The first stop to Hog Solo journey will be to his home planet's moon to refuel his saucer.

b) What do you think about it?

It's quite interesting, I like the storyline, but the names (Hog Solo and HASA) are just stupid.

Instead of hasa, maybe PAotH (Planetary Association of the Hedgehogs) it's more original and sounds better. As for Hog Solo... I dunno, it needs to be something more original.

I like you menu select, but do you think it'd be possible to embed it into the frontend? If not, that's fine, I just think it'd be neat.

I guess PAoTH is better as it is already known. I think I'll use it Smile

I guess I'll have time to change my mind many times about the names Big Grin
However, I'd like to hear any suggestions that you may have.

As for the menu I think it'll be difficult and very time consuming to be embed in the front end. Also, a change like that could be probably campaign specific so I guess I'll implement it as I've mentioned.

I actually like Hog Solo. It's a lame pun (on Han Solo) and it fits. I say stick with that one! Smile

EDIT:

HASA isn't that bad either imo. But I'm rather neutral on that one really.
