A few patch ago i enjoyed higlander mode, but now base gameplay is hell G\plane\cake, ufo\rope for one team for other team bazooka, grenade, pistol, parachute, low gravity and another useless stuff. VERY FUNNY isn't it? "Ho ho, mode says not all hogs born equal", ye, not equal, but here they are simply defenseless and deprived of the opportunity to move freely. Besides, there was no such inequality before. One team has everything, the other has nothing. ​You totally break this mode.

The highlander script's game mechanics have not been changed for several years.

They are the same as at least 2,5 years ago (when random Hog order was made optional), if not more.

Also we can't just change it outside of new releases, except maybe by putting up a new and differently named version on DLC, which I don't think anybody did?

So unless there's a problem with randomness in general or some weird exploit was found, you're probably just having an unlucky streak.

Couldn't the addition of new weapons and utilities break the balance?

I guess it could, to some extent.

Not that we added much weps/utils lately, but the room's selected weaponset can change what weapons/utilities are available.

If it provides only very few strong weapons and lots of weak ones, it could make players that have an unlucky start be even more at a disadvantage.

I don't know if people use a lot of custom Highlander weaponsets, but you could always try/host your own Smile

So. Another low possibility is some player is trolling you by messing with the seed. If they hunted around for a certain set of seeds and manually entered them, they could ensure they had good starting values.

They could also mess with the weaponset in conjunction with that.

If it's happening when you are hosting, maybe you're just unlucky. Big Grin

You can ensure more balance though by removing supers in the weaponset and adjusting probabilities. The weapon count controls probability in highlander.

So I'm trolling myself by getting disgusting random in my room? I've been playing for years without changing the parameters, except for taking out the number of mines or\and barrels. That's it. For years everything was fine, but the last couple of years a total skew in the direction of one team to the detriment of the other began. When you get a parachute + bazooka and spawned at the bottom of the map, to stand against the rc plane and rope\ufo can only if played against noob, and the average player would just destroy the entire team for 1-2 turns. Or vice versa you get a cake and ufo, and the opponent getting low gravity and pistonl then what's the fun of this one-way game? Also, I have long disabled ballgun, piano strike, but it's as you know nothing will change, because with or without sweapons always one team will be gifted the best weapons, and another one tormened to bad. Is it then necessary to turn everything off and fight on bazookas only deathmatch without a rope and the UFO?

Yeah, I'm going with unlucky. That code hasn't changed in years, and we haven't released in a long time either.

Oh. There is another tiny tiny possibility.
On AMD processors, Qt uses rdrand exclusively for generating UUIDs (yes, shame on them). A recent version of AMD processor had a malfunction in rdrand breaking QT and systemd.
This is recognisable if you click on the seed button because your seed would always be {ffffffff-ffff-ffff-ffff-ffffffffffff}.

You'd also always get the same terrain on random maps though, and it wouldn't be about "unbalanced" weps but more like "always getting same darn weps for this map and theme"

The version of Qt we bundle with the game might still have this issue. Combine that with a windows machine with no QT updates and a CPU upgrade and Windoes not installing the AMD microcode patch...

Apart from that. Yeah, going with luck Wink Smiley because nothing in the game or script has changed.
