Hedgeroid update!
Hello!
news on the android front!
Yesterday I've released a new Hedgewars version to the Android Market, this version is feature-wise one of the bigger releases check it out here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.hedgewars.hedgeroid
Together with Koda, we've improved the touch interface. It should be a lot easier to control your hogs and play some games vs the AI. Further more the schemes now work, which resulted the rope working too now (any shoppa players wanna have a go at it? :)) plus a ton of bugs
This is the touch interface in action, be careful the quality is quite low :)
as shown in the video the android frontend needs quite a lot of work for tablets, if you're interested in giving a helping hand please do contact me! :)

Hedgeroid update!
Hello,
today a new version of Hedgewars for Android hit the Market!
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.hedgewars.hedgeroid
For users who are updating: please download the additional package again. (Hit download and click on Full data Package)
The last version had a lot of crashes while in the game, the reason for this was because we used 22khz sounds, and sdl didn't go well with that, I'm still trying to find out exactly why. To prevent the game from crashing that ofter I've gone back and used 44khz.
I've also changed the way you can download new content, right now only two packages are on there but there might be more soon enough
Plus there were some tweaks in the UI mostly hardly noticable.

Edit: there were some issues with Android versions 2.1(Eclair) and 2.2 (Froyo) they should be fixed now
Also some people has tried to install hedgewars on a phone without an sdcard, this is currently not supported. The SDCard can be an external sdcard or one that has been build-in
Android update
Dear all,
It's been a while since I've posted anything regarding the Android port. (This is because of some lame excuses of me being busy :) )
Progress is being made though.. For example you can use the touchscreen to move around a bit control hogs and even fire some weapons. I've also uploaded Hedgeroid to the Android Market. So it's for all of you android users available to download!
I actually uploaded a version to the market a month ago, but because of a mistake I made I had to pull that one from the market and re-upload. Meaning those of you who still have the 'old' version installed will have to download the new one.
As I am writing this post it's been 20 mins since I uploaded the app that's why the 'search-servers' haven't yet caught on to the app, however you can download it here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.hedgewars.hedgeroid
So yes, it's still very far from being done and we could definitly use your help; if interested let me know :)
tl;dr
New Android version on the market re-download it from the above link and remove the old one

GSoC has ended
Hello!
on Monday the 22nd GSoC has come to an end, or at least the coding part has.. :) All that remains is to submit the code to a google code project and to fill in some forms.
This does not mean I will stop working on the Android port, however, it will mean I won't be spending as much time on it, luckily the hard part is done :)
We've decided to set up an alpha version of the port to allow you guys to see what has been done.
Just to make it clear this is an Alpha version, it's far from a release version so expect it to crash and crash a lot. To minimize the amount of crashing remember:
* Click the download button first(you will want wifi for this) then start a game
* Some maps have a maximum hog limit, exceeding this limit will result in a crash
* make sure to create/add teams before starting a game.
The file is downloadable here: www.xelification.com/Hedgeroid-alpha.apk (use your android device to download it to the device and let android take care of the installing part)
People interested in the source check out the hedgeroid branch over at code.google.com/p/hedgewars

GSoC Android Port update #6
Hello,
for the last couple of days I've been working on the Touch interface. This will allow the Android port to use it's touchscreen to control Hedgewars.
I've been implementing the Touch interface on the engine side, which means any set up, which allows SDL to send SDL_Touch events to the engine, will be able to make use of this interface. Good news for wacom and other touchdevice users for several OSses :)
Here's a few preview:
I could use some of your help tough;
At the moment I've implemented pinch to zoom(check the video if you don't know what pinch is), 'swiping' to move the camera around and a single click or tap to open the ammo menu.
What other ways to interface with Hedgewars via a touch screen would do like to see?
