It's not a mandate. Has been requested for a looong time, though.

The initial post of this thread is very outdated. A couple of features on the list are already implemented.

Either keep this list up to date or un-sticky this thread if you are unwilling to do so. Please. This thread is useless if it is not up-to-date.

These things are already implemented in 0.9.20 and should be removed from the list:
- Missions in single player mode (there for a long time)
- Freezeray
- Sound effects for each weapon
- Audio taunts (implemented since ages. I never knew a Hedgewars without taunts)

This is not implemented in 0.9.20, but it will come in 0.9.21:
- Construction mode

You might also just post a link to this:
https://code.google.com/p/hedgewars/issues/list?can=2&q=type%3AEnhancement+status%3Astarted%2Caccepted&sort=-status+priority&colspec=ID+Type+Status+Priority+Milestone+Owner+Summary&cells=tiles
This is a list of all issues on Google Code of type “Encancement” and status “Accepted” or “Started”. In other words: Feature requests which have been accepted.

I guess this might come in handy as well.

I don’t know what you meant with this feature:

Quote:
- All "standard" weaponry

Did you have anything partiuclar in mind?

Quote:
- Increased lobby functionality

Please refine this point or remove this, otherwise this point will stay in the list forever, because there is always room for improvement.

My suggestions:
* Homing bee should lay on a trajectory after a while, not just keep steering on it. And it is better to accelerate during flight.

* Cluster bomb should scatter more powerfully, making an effective umbrella attack when exploded in air.
Cluster in its present realisation is almost a useless and weak weapon.
Also, mined in a slim tunnel it's power should be comparable with that of a melon, cause all parts devastate in proximity.

* Sheep weapon is one of the most well known of all the series. It should be present.

* Cake can walk under water
It's wrong. There is an imagineable ground in water, so it should go into the deep and explode, or just get lost or start drifting, which would be fun.

* Drill should only drill straight down. No skew. You should not be able to come up from a deep drilled ground.

* Parachute is too easy to use. Bungee will do better.

* Saucer should not be able to touch and move other hogs. Hogs are immovable when it is not their turn. That's an axiom cause this is a turn-by-turn strategy. Stillness of your hogs should be guaranteed.

Overall projectile physics is inconsistent. After playing with realistic physics, this pseudo-bouncing and pseudo-exploding weapons are very hard to master. Almost no systemicity. Totally random habituation.

Have a melon.

unc0rr totally opposed to changing bee code, I think he likes its current difficulty level. won't happen.

I don't think there's any support out there for increasing spread or number of particles. It already does a ton of damage. So. Disagree.

... I have no idea how that would even work. As soon as the pieces hit the tunnel walls they are gonna explode. Their explosions are much tinier than melon so naturally most of it is gonna be absorbed in the walls.

RC Plane. Not going to copy that.

There is no land under water level except in special lua maps. I doubt very much unc0rr will want to prevent cake going underwater. Also. You know you can fly saucer and bee under water right? There's not going to be any pretend land under water except in lua half-drowned maps. So no.

ivan866 allegedly wrote:

Very much no. That makes it almost useless.

ivan866 allegedly wrote:

Bungee would be a pointless redundant weapon. Already many ways to descend cliffs. And definitely not going to eliminate parachute. If you find it too easy to use, remove it from your weapon sets.

... Come on now. There are tons of ways to move hogs when not your turn. That's the whole point of the attacks for example. Anyway, lots of things move hogs. Mudball, most weapons, saucer, rope, jumping into them. This is just silly. (no)

http://www.hedgewars.org/faq.html#n5940 covers "real physics" pretty well.

But... Hedgewars bouncing is not *that* unrealistic. What's the main issue here? Bounce angles are normally pretty predictable.

I agree with nemo on most points, I don't like most of the suggestions either for the same reasons.

Here's where I disagree or I have somehting to say:

nemo allegedly wrote:

No, this is not how the sheep works in the Worms games. The sheep walks forwards and jumps when there is a barrier or hole, and you explode it by pressing the attack key.

You were probably thinking of the super sheep, and I agree that we do not really need it.

Of course it is a different discussion whether to add something like the sheep to Hedgewars, or a simple weapon which walks (apart from the cake, which is very unique).

ivan866 allegedly wrote:

I think nemo is right here to reject this suggestion since this is an essential part of gameplay. Shoppa games hugely rely on the fact that you can push hedgehogs around, it's called “rope-knocking”. If you take this away, you also take away Shoppa, and this will not be accepted by Shoppa players for sure.

However, I think it may be interesting to have as a game modifier.
If you use the script Game Hacks you can make all hogs sticky (can not be moved by rope, flying saucer etc.) with using the script parameter noknock=true.
Have fun! Smile

EDIT:

Quote:

* Drill should only drill straight down. No skew. You should not be able to come up from a deep drilled ground.

I will add this to Game Hacks.

Request:
* light sources
* dynamic lighting
* glow, ambient shadows etc.

Except that all of this contradicts with "no gradients" design guideline.

Not necessarily - when done with cellshading/etc. lighting/shadows can happen without gradients.

integration of the GLES2 branch would pretty much be necessary to do lighting IMO.

Возможно ли сделать принудительную загрузку специальной темы 9 мая, чтобы все игроки в этот день играли только на ней?
