claymore's and Randy's Tournament

Hi there!

Claymore and Randy are currently organizing a tournament.

Tournaments are always a fun opportunity for testing your skills against other players and since those two guys seem to have put a lot of thought into it I figured I'd help them promote their tournament a bit.

Read their Thread for more details, you can also register as a participant there.

Also below you can find a poll with regards to the possible tournament types.

Feel free to vote*!

Swiss Style.
What this means (as opposed to the knockout format of the previous tournaments) is that instead of losers being eliminated, they will be re-paired with players who have a similar number of wins and losses. This means that everyone gets to plays every round, and even have a chance of winning the tournament after losing a game. The player with the most points (wins) at the end is declared the winner.

Elimination or Double Elimation.
Elimination was the format of all previous tournaments. Double elimination is a variant where losers get a chance to continue by winning a playoff.

If it's not obvious how these systems work, Google and wikipedia are you friends.

Have fun,

*I'll leave it to c&R to decide if they want to use the poll's result. Also I could hand them the results just including the votes of players that are registered tournament participants (but still anonymous), if that's what they prefer.

Poll will be closed and results displayed on 1st of April.

Mac AppStore update

Hey guys,
just a quick status update about MAS version: 0.9.15.1 finally got reviewed and released!
This version has the latest fixes about the blizzard map and the minimum quality setting (as well as full compliance with apple guidelines) so check it out! :)
App crashes when accessing the online page; reasons unknown, most likely culprit the new QT framewoks...

Update: The review team finally gave in and allowed our update! Things should be ok now...

New nick-list sorting

Hey guys!

I've been playing around with nick sorting recently.
This is the current result.
(It already is in the Hedgewars code repository and will be in the next version of Hedgewars, if nobody changes it :P)

Features

  • case-insensitive, means: A-Z won't go above a-z anymore.
  • special characters are always below A-z
  • friends are always on top of the list
  • ignored nicks are always on the bottom

Any thoughts on this?

PS:
For the screenshot I RANDOMLY added nicks as friends or ignored them, on my testing account.
I do not even know those people (except myself, maybe)!

sdw195's 0.9.14.1/0.9.15 Feature Trailer!

I think he did a good job seeing it's his first Hedgewars video ever and that he only had limited time :D
(Also he got tricked into making it... muwahahah xD)

Enjoy! :D

iOS bugfix release

Just a quick note to inform you that Hedgewars for iOS 1.2.2 has hit the AppStore; this should fix the grave bug that shortened all games and there all the juicy stuff from the 0.9.15 release. See the changelog here and download from here.

iEnjoy!
