Ah ... have to watch some NGE again. Maybe you should try to work on their alignment a little bit. Looks a little bit off for me but didn't test ingame yet.
Edit: Tried using that reaper hat without the mask? Might look decent as well.
I've worked all the shit off the alignment. Ingame animation is somewhat about headshaking. The form of evas' heads is not like to make hats. That's why 01 & 02 failed.

Try putting dome colours on the crab's body. And don't think you're that original, every hat maker thought of a headcrab hat at least twice. So if you succeed, i'll be glad of you. At this time you didn't.

The legs should be gripping the head, you should give the headcrab some kind of eyes/features. And maybe change the features on the hedgehog, its a bit odd that hes smiling and doesnt seem to mind it sitting there :P Take a look at the brainslug hat
I was wondering which tool you use to draw for hedgewars? I find it hard to find the correct transparence and colors to use to have a nice result. Working pixel by pixel in Gimp, as I do, isn't, I hope, the best way...
If you're on linux, Inkscape it's probably the best tool around when it comes to cartoony graphics, being vector based. Gimp does the work too, but i find Gimp's way of dealing with shapes quite a pain in the a**.
In case you want to give it a try, earlier on this thread i posted a template for drawing hats that quite accelerates the process (not sure it's the latest version, tho).
^ Not that difficult. If you want, use GIMP, but my opinion is the same as Palewolf's - too much work to create even the most basic shapes like circle or line.

In order to be consistent with the Hedgewars style it needs a stronger outline that clearly defines the shape (look at the outlines around the hog's body for reference). The overall look and detail is pretty good though, so it shouldn't take much to finish it.
A beaver?! I love this hat. ^^ It looks really great. What's really amazing here is that it doesn't look like a hedgehog (most hats cover partially the quills) but like a real beaver -> Beaverwars.

Looks better when it's actually moving, but it probably has too many finer details to be used in the game.
Looks grayscaled to me. It surelly needs some details, but i doubt it will have nice outlook when scaled down.

The edges are pixellated, if you can smooth over those lines or re-draw them with a softer brush it'd look a lot better. Good effort overall though.

I agree with Armagon: looks quite nice but to better fit in needs outline and, maybe, either more saturated colors or more contrast.

The headcrab didn't suck hard nor anything similar, it was just hard to see what it's meant to be (imo).
